These are underated, underpriced speakers! They compete with $500 bookshelf stereo/studio monitors.
In February of 2024, I bought, HiVi-Swans D1100 Computer Speakers, and I was really surprised on how good they sounded. And yet, I returned them for only one reason: the blue-tooth feature was rather dicey and to bypass to aux was a pain in the a**! So, I read up on the HiVi-Swans D100 Computer Speakers and +95% of the reviews, in and outside of Amazon, were impressive. I ordered the speakers...Swan speakers are well-built and pretty shocking on how good they sound for their price point.I let them break in for about three weeks: +72 hours of listening. The sound? They sound better than their little cousin (D1100) in all phases. It takes a little bit of time to get used to the ribbon speaker as compared to the ones on the D1100.For a the D100's to produce the sound they do, especially with a 4" driver for low mid-range and bass, is a little mind boggling. The mid-range and upper mids are clean, defined, spacious and very detailed without being harsh. The lower mid-range and bass? Detailed, clean, uncolored and not boomy whatsoever. I have owned very expensive speakers; in excess of $10,000, so I know what sounds good and what doesn't. Do these speakers compete with those? Uh-no, and they aren't met too either! I am really impressed how dynamic they are, and yeah - they can get loud without distortion. The bass, to me, is deep enough. If someone wants lower, then get a subwoofer! But, for bookshelf speakers, they are just as good as ones that are in the $400 to $500 range.I primarily use them for video streaming on my Samsung tv. They are fantastic when watching a movie. I, once in awhile, will listen to music with the speakers on YouTube. Impressive as well. But, I primarily listen to music with my Kali Audio IN-5 5-inch Powered Studio Monitors. I am not, nor should anyone compare the D100 to the Kali's. Why? The Kali's are $700 a pair, are studio monitors and compete, and rather easily so, with monitor speakers in the $1,000 range. But, for their size, the D100's are almost as accurate. So, if I ever decide to pay another pair of active speakers, and I am trying to find an excuse to do so - for my teenage son, I will be buying HiVi-Swans. They are that good.

Swan D100 compared to the Edifier R1280DBs - Very close
I purchased these Swans D100 speakers specifically to compare with the Edifier R1280DBs speakers as i could not find a decent comparison video/writeup online. Since both have Bluetooth and RCA connections, they make a perfect home office/computer speaker set with excellent wireless (BT) or wired connection. My impressions of the D100 are: they have excellent "rich" sound and plenty of volume for their size. I am using them at 3-8 feet as near field. However, they are a little too rich for me, and they lose some points in the mid/vocal range. When using for meetings, the sound/speech quality is not quite as good as the Edifier. The Edifier's have a more neutral all-inclusive sound, but they are just a bit on the hollow side compared to the D100s. For someone that wants a very smooth, rich sound... D100s are excellent, they will not disappoint overall. D100 Build quality, knobs, box, remote are all better than the Edifier... and i think it's a better looking speaker as well. The Edifier wins for me with extra inputs and a Subwoofer output. No speaker in this (under $200) price range is going to be excellent, i may try the some others in the similar price range just to see what i can find.
