Works with M2 SATA drives
I wish this worked with M2 NVME drives as I have a lot of those. However I knew it wouldn't when I bought it. I am using it with a KINGDATA SSD M.2 2242 64GB drive and put it in my A1001 Powerbook G4 to replace its dying hard drive. My PC didn't seem to recognize it at first, but it's working perfectly fine now. (Maybe I inserted it loosely when first testing).I also tested this with a 512 GB M.2 SATA drive and that worked fine with this adapter. The casing it comes with is nice too, as it lets you securely put it in a 2.5 PATA bay without having to worry about it moving loosely.I definitely think this is worth getting for swapping out old hard drives on old laptops when you pair this with a M.2 SATA drive.

Great for older systems!
I got this to put an SSD into an old Pentium 3-era laptop. This adapter works great. The only thing to know is that Windows 98 SE can only use at most 128 GB. I am actually using a 256 GB m.2 SATA SSD, but that is OK since older operating systems don't support TRIM commands, having 50% free means that wear leveling can actually work. The only other advice is that you should use a partition tool to make sure that the cluster size on the partition lines up with the cluster size on the SSD. There are YouTube videos on how to do this. But this drive has performed perfectly, and I am very happy with it.

Did not work. Tried and tried. I own a computer repair shop so this isn't my first attempt at such things. I have lots of sleds for data recovery and transfer. This one was simply dead and unusable. Sent back.

It will bring an old boat anchor of a computer back to life.
I installed this with an nvme drive in an 18 year old HP laptop equipped with a single core Sempron processor. i had to leave one screw out to get it to fit but that's not the end of the world.I cranked up the old boat anchor, and after installing Linux, it was fun to watch it go through it's paces. I didn't need nearly as much coal to make my computer run as I did before. it runs cooler and faster. I would recommend this adapter to anyone having an old computer that needs to rely HEAVILY on a swap partition for memory. The improvement over a mechanical hard drive is magical.

Perfect fit for M.2 Drive
Worked great and fitted into laptop drive space nicely, note speed is limited to IDE interface so don't expect 400 to 500Mb read and write listed on most M.2 SATA drives. Is still a huge improvement over mechanical HDD drive with boot/ load times easily halved and program response improved.

Got my old VAIO running again!
Was super easy to use and let me put some old m.2 SATA drives to use that would've sat around for eternity otherwise. Really fun to see this old machine running again.

Works - and doesn't
Bought this to make use of a free 64GB M2 SSD I have - and replace a 40GB Toshiba MK4025GASL drive in a Panasonic Toughbook CF-T2. It works great with a USB-IDE adapter cable I have had for years, looks just like a typical hard disk drive. I was able to clone the hard disk drive to the SSD with Clonezilla - no problem at all. But it does not detect on the laptop. The drive busy LED lights about 1/3 brightness and just stays lit. I checked the cabling several times. Also tried 3 other hard disk drives in the CF-T2. All work. For some reason, this unit will not work in the CF-T2, which was the reason I bought it, so I can't give it more than 3 stars. Next up: try to use it in another IDE laptop, see if it works there.

Works Well
Handy little device helps back up at really good speeds. Good at replacing the HDD's in the old Mac Moat chipped units.
