Expected lots of feathers to shed when opened, but none. Looks lovely

Has more glue than feathers. Don’t recommend

I was looking forward to handling and reviewing this lampshade having seen the feathery style becoming more popular. However, my hopes were quickly dashed - hopefully because of the product I received rather than this being indicative of the general quality of all.Perfectly packaged in a fitted cardboard box and covered with the usual cellophane, I proceeded to gently blow the feathers with a hairdryer on cold setting - as per the seller's instructions on this page. I soon had to stop that as feathers were flying around my room where they had not been securely attached. I then shook it gently in the hope that would fluff the feathers more gently but still found some were floating off.It was easy enough to fix this on an existing lamp base but someone using traditional 40w bulbs will not get much light because of the density of the lining plus the feathers - LEDs are essential here. However, the neat "frill" of feathers we see in the display images hanging below the lampshade were not to be on the model I received. If anything, they looked ragged and with large spaces from one to another.At a price of £22.50 for this drum design shade, I find that overly expensive for what this appears to be. It is nowhere near as nice a feature as the fully circular feather shades and just looks quite cheap and unappealing in my living room. Given that the write-up on this sales page does appear to be accurate I have given 4 stars but, on a purely personal level after fully examining this product, and given the high price, even 3 stars would be too generous. A disappointing experience of a product that looks really nice in the display pictures but falls short of expectations when taken out of the box.

I ordered this lamp shade as I thought it would look great in our daughter's room, it arrived in a cardboard box, when I started taking it out feathers started dropping off and then when I started trying to plump the feathers even more fell out, but luckily this does have lots of feathers so you would not notice.Once we had put it up we where very happy with it as it does look lovely.

The shade can be used on a lamp or a as a ceiling shade. This shade is white colour way and made up of hundreds of feathers. It needs a gentle shake to plump the feathers up when removed from cellophane.It’s very modern and looks good in a dressing room or bedroom.You do lose a few feathers on opening.Nice buy

Giggi Feather Light ShadeAt 30cm in diameter, the size of this feather lampshade is neither too large to take up space when placed on a table lamp nor too small when hung from the ceiling.Installation is easy as long you have existing bulbs and fixtures. There are two layers; an inner fabric and the outer one made of feathers. The effect is somewhat dimmed, ambient lighting in a whimsical cloud of feathers.A few feathers came loose in the package, but the rest were still stuck firmly onto the shade. I believe some light dusting twice a week will keep it clean and fluffy for a long time.
