Ilium Works Shift Lever Extension Compatible with BMW Motorcycles IW-10-300

As with most Ilium products it fits, made w quality materials, and looks great on the bike. You will need to fasten it to your shift lever w some RTV silicone sealant to keep it from falling off, so if you are ordering one, order a tube with it. The only suggestion would be to the manufacturer. Machine a set screw in the end to help secure it to the lever. Perfect for your RT especially if you wear adventure boots-eases the upshifts to 3-6 gears.

I fitted this to my R1200RT which I bought used. (Why I needed this I don't really understand. Downshifting was difficult, even though the pedal dimensions are the same as on my R1200R) The shifter became easily accessible with the extension on, so it works. I can't imagine this machined aluminum ever wearing out either. The only issue was that, after ten years of use, my shifter had been worn down a bit, so that the extension did not fit snuggly and there is no provision for a set screw or something to lock it on. I wrapped an appropriately sized elastic band around the pedal and shoved the extension on. So far ( a month ) so good

It's such a vast improvement over the 'mini' BMW shifter. I was worried about the sleeve working its way off, so I drilled a tap hole and screwed in a round head sheet metal screw that just bites into the rubber covered shifter. The sleeve still freely rotates, but it can't works its way off at 75mph! I now have a much better feel when I shift.

Extends shifter out about 3/4 of an inch, and now I won't have the black mark on all my boots from the rubber cover on the shifter. A must. You just press it on.
