50 Years of Rolling Stone: The Music, Politics and People that Shaped Our Culture [Rolling Stone LLC, Wenner, Jann S.] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. 50 Years of Rolling Stone: The Music, Politics and People that Shaped Our Culture Review: Great Book! Lots of Photos! - This large, coffee table style hardcover book sums up some of the best articles and most iconic photos in the popular magazine. Founder Jann Wenner provides an informative introduction and the book highlights the journey music, politics, and culture in general have taken in each of the decades from the 60s to our current 10s. I was particularly impressed with a John Lennon interview from the early 70s. He was very candid and offered his views with a no bullshit filter. The 1976 photo spread of The Family, by Richard Avedon, was also very evocative. Lengthy excerpts of articles and interviews with people's reflections are very interesting to read. The cover jacket is lush and also has a black Rolling Stones banner. This book pretty much sums up the last half of the 20th Century & the first 15 years of our current millennium. Review: Great for Memory Lane - Came in perfect condition and the gift recipient immediately started flipping through the pages. Very interesting and thick coffee table style book.

Incredible book!
I am thrilled with this book, it's fascinating! It is not confined to pictures, although there are so many cool shots that I've never seen before. I can see this being read and re-read many times. The book itself is heavy and of a very substantial size. It would make an awesome gift! If you are on the fence, grab this one!

All the news (and brilliant photos) that fits.
Got my copy yesterday and I've been through the whole thing twice already. I've been a subscriber for about 35 of these 50 years and this (very large) coffee table book is an awesome tribute to the legacy of the magazine. I appreciate the backstories and the reprinted items as well as the larger than life photos from a collection of artists without equal. It also makes me miss the years of the big format magazine. Not to forget - RS has been home to some of the finest writers of their respective generations. From Cameron Crowe, to HST, PJ O'Rourke, Mikal Gilmore and Matt Taibbi. I am very thankful the latter two are still writing for them now - Gilmore's piece on Chuck Berry was absolutely amazing and Taibbi's political and financial reporting is the best in the business. Cheers to 50 years.

Wonderful
Wow! I couldn't believe that some troglodyte had complained there were "too many photos." This is an ART book, hello? A coffee table book? The photos are the best we have over a half century. The paper quality, the color separations, are nonpareil. Fact is, I can barely lift this book, it weighs so heavy, above my lap. I look forward to reading all the articles, many of which I've read before. There's always something new in retrospect. We all read Jann Wenner's magazine as kids and now adults, and this compendium takes us through a half century of our raucous lives.

Fantastical
Rolling Stone is a staple— music, culture, journalism, politics, art.. This book give us a little piece of its soul, and definitely leaves us wanting more. Check out this other book too. I’m at year 1993, I dig it

A big and bulky Photohistory of ROLLING STONE worth the price. I missed Beyonce and, most of all, Kent State May 1970, a true political landmark for America.
