Clear, Comprehensive, and Useful
This little book provides a comprehensive list of not only HTML5 but also HTML4.01 elements. Every element is described in a concise manner and examples of its usage are also provided.

Exactly what I was looking for
Quick, convenient alphabetical reference to HTML5 syntax right at my fingertips. I still find dead-tree books quicker to navigate than websites or Kindles (sorry Amazon) for this type of information. Each entry is tagged as to whether it is "not in HTML 4.01", HTML5 only, W3C or WHATWG. The appendixes list the common character entries and give an XHTML syntax overview. The front matter contains a concise list of HTML5 event handlers (ondrop, ondrag, etc.), and an excellent list of all the HTML5 elements organized by function appears just after the last alphabetic element entry. Another superb O'Reilly Pocket Reference.

Copy your favorite examples from HTML4 into this book
This will NOT teach you how to use HTML but it is a must-have when trying to recall the specs for a tag. When I bought this HTML5 (an update of my O'Reilly HTML 4 by the same author), I discovered that things I wanted to do were no longer in the book. Page 8 gives a validating tool crucial for bringing your website into HTML5 compliance (only three lines of text but the most important part of the book). If still using (or upgrading someone else's site) from HTML4, this reference book affirms which tags became obsoleted, however it lacks sufficient examples and omits still valid sub-tags that I learned in HTML4 and from on-line tutorials So I went A-to-Z page by page copying by hand valuable things I learned from my HTML 4 book before discarding it. Color names and Web-Safe color hexadecimal charts (p87-92 in the old book) are missing from this book, so slice them out of the old book for reference. The cover says "indispensable" and I agree. Buy it.

Good Comprehensive Compact Reference
A good comprehensive compact reference for HTML 5. Nice to have with my other pocket references on the desk when programming. Sometimes it faster to find it in a book than on the web.

HTML 5 is HTML on steriods!
Programming in the old HTML has been the only way to get the website out there. Wanting to learn the differences between HTML and HTML 5, this book was awesome. Suggest this for someone who know's HTML as this is a reference and not a start from scratch book.

Three Stars
like all programming books it assumes you already know how to program in this language

Exactly what I wanted
I was looking for a handy html5 dictionary and that is exactly what this book is.Everything in alphabetical order with a decent description/explanation of the tag and a code example showing its use.I am currently learning html5 and css so this is written from the point of view of a complete novice but it is proving useful as a quick reference alongside the books I'm learning from and I'm sure it will remain useful for a long time to come.

Bon complement au "Learning Web Design"
J'ai acheté le livre du même auteur "Learning Web Design", qui est excellent. Celui ci est un bon complément pour le language.

Tutto molto condensato
Vengono spiegati in maniera sintetica i tag HTML con piccoli esempi pratici. Consigliato a chi come me non ha tempo per studiare sulla versione cartacea.
