Great for making custom cables
I needed to create a custom mini-DIN to DB9 serial cable for a project I was working on. This little adapter allowed me to easily create the 'standard' DB9 end to plug into my PC easily. I cut up an old mini-DIN cable, crimped some ferrules on the individual wires, then plugged those into the screw-down terminals on the adapter. Everything worked great. My only complaint is that the hold-down screws aren't threaded properly - they're threaded too long, so the screws aren't 'captive' in the adapter like they are in every other standard hold-down style connector. Other than that, I have no complaints. I'd recommend these to anyone.

Very nice connector
I had to make an adapter from a mini-DIN 8 to a DB-9 and was unsure of the exact pinout I might need, so I didn't want a solder connector, in case I needed to make adjustments. This worked quickly and easily, although I did pull out my soldering iron to tin the bare wires before I inserted them into this adapter.Turns out I got the pinout right the first time, but I'm still happy I used this type of product, and I would use it again.
