This Rooftop Cargo Carrier is AMAZING!! I drove from California to Ohio and not once did the straps need to be tightened. Driving thru some intense rain had me concerned on if my items would be safe from the water - everything was DRY! I bought the largest size and had a 28" and a 25" suitcase, two 28.7"L x 14.2"W x 14"H moving bags and still had room for 3 queen size comforters and there was STILL ROOM FOR MORE!! Anyone moving or road-tripping needs this! The best part is it folds up and fits into this carrying bag for future use - no need to find room for one of those hard-sided turtle shell things. ****UPDATE**** Proceeded to use the carrier for the second time. Same route from California to Ohio - only difference was that due to the extreme heat all driving was done at night with cooler temperatures. During the daylight hours the car was parked under a covered carport. This trip it held 4 of the collapsable moving bags which all fit from front to back with approx 2" extra space all the way around. While stopping in Oklahoma City, it was discovered that one of the side seams had split leaving a 14" opening. Fortunately the 4 bags were able to be put into the van and nothing was lost. I realize it's been just over 1 year from the initial purchase, however I would think that for what I paid ($98.99 + tax) that I would get more than just 1 use from it. I tried to contact the seller - which directed me to Amazon. When I explained what happened I was transferred to 4 different departments, in the end to be told that there was nothing they could do, that I should contact the seller. I explained that I had tried to however the link directed me to Amazon. The Amazon employee kept telling me they couldn't do anything that I had to contact the seller thru the link he provided. After asking them if they had even tried using the link the employee became rude and condescending. I was able to locate an address for the seller however - guess what - IT'S IN CHINESE! I wasn't asking for any money back, I just wanted a replacement. FINAL UPDATE - I've attached photos of the split seam - IT IS A QUALITY DEFECT !! All I was asking for was a replacement - and I'm told SORRY YOU'RE PAST THE WARRANTY TIME. IF YOU HAVE THIS ---- USE WITH CAUTION ---- YOU COULD POTENTIALLY BE AT FAULT FOR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT IF YOUR BELONGINGS FLY OUT OF THIS WHEN THE SEAM BREAKS!!

We have a small Hyundai ioniq PHEV, but we have 2 toddlers, an e-bike, an e-trike and tons of toddler and beach accessories and clothes we wanted to take on a 7-hour journey for a 7 day stay. We contemplated renting an SUV, shipping some stuff, buying a bigger car, getting a u-haul, etc. We ended up getting this roof top carrier, a trailer hitch and a hitch cargo carrier instead, and we actually had room to spare. Our friends laughed that it would be impossible in our car, but we did it! This carrier takes up a tiny footprint when stored in its bag, enough that you could reasonably have it always stored in your car for whenever you need it. But its total volume when deployed is astounding. We put a pack-n-play, a bike trailer, 3 beach chairs, a beach tent, a baby gate, a child bike seat, 2 bags of clothes, a bag of beach toys, 5 towels, 4 bike helmets a bag of board games and 2 foldable strollers up there and we STILL had extra space. We don't have a roof rack so we attached the straps to the door frames with the included strap "adapters" and it was impressively sturdy. We never had a single problem. No sounds, no movement, no leaks, nothing. Only issue we had at first was we let the straps dangle inside the car window, and when it started raining hard it leaked into the car through the straps. Easy solution was to tie the ends outside, problem solved. The straps do not interfere with the door operation in any way. The only downside to this, that I found, is that it reduced our fuel efficiency. That's kind of expected. I'd estimate this probably reduced us by about 15%-20% for fuel efficiency with another 10%-15% coming from our cargo/trike setup. With about 15 hours of travel time this meant 3 tanks of gas vs the typical 2, or about another $40. All told, between the hitch, hitch carrier, this cartop carrier, the extra gas and some straps we spent an extra $425 to get everything we needed down to beach. The cheapest weeklong SUV rentals were $1000 and wouldn't even have carried this much. And the best thing is that all of this (except the extra gas) was 1 time costs! Next time we need to travel like this we can do it again for free! Love it!

This bag does not have structure or support built into it, so you should not expect to have it "ride" on top of rails. Space the car rails out so they are in front of and in back of the bag which will help keep it in place. Then, tie the bag down to the rails. The supplied hooks worked perfectly for hooking into the lengthwise rails of a 2019 Chevrolet Suburban or windows of the car. We used all the straps. The strap lengths are adequate, but like all straps that tighten, securing the extra loose part of the straps is something still left to the customer to figure out (one enhancement suggestion, but not being deducted on review quality). We fed them back into the strap binders, but that isn't always easy if you have them tightened well. We bought this bag to extend the storage capabilities of our vehicle and it was delivered very fast. It compresses down into a very small package and will easily fit back into the bag it came from. Just a caution, you will probably want to pack this as full as possible. Since the bag has only a little structure, it's good to put nice square luggage in the corners and otherwise fill the bag completely if at all possible. It can seem a little bit overwhelming the first time, but when packing it for the return trip, it was easier and quicker. We did drive through terrible rain storms for hours and the bag was perfectly dry on the inside. Overall, highly recommended at the price and discount we received on this product.

We bought this a couple months ago to carry our beach items for vacation. It made the 9 hour trip to Florida and back with no issues. We have since used it everyday for the past month and a half to help us move items to a new home an hour away from where we now live. It has held odd shaped items, boxes, whatever we find to pack in it. We have used it in pouring rain, hail, and heavy wind. It has held up perfectly and never leaked a single drop, or torn at all. It has exceeded our expectations and hopes and we are thrilled with it. We have owned hard cartop carriers and one other soft sided one. This is far superior and super easy to use. Once emptied it unclips, folds & stores easily into a small bag that comes with it so while not in use it is not on top of the car in the way, and yet attaches easily and quickly when needed again. We plan to keep it in the Outback for those times when we find something amazing on our travels and need the extra room. We cannot recommend this product enough!

We bought this for a 3-week cross-country camping trip in desert, plains, and mountainous regions. We packed it absolutely full of tents/chairs/luggage/equipment. It's soft rather than rigidly shaped, so it flexed with the lumps and bumps of the stuff. The zipper is super strong. The straps are sturdy and easily adjustable. I saw some reviews that mentioned it wasn't waterproof... yes, it is. I suspect those people did not smooth down the rain flaps: they cover the zipper and seal closed with velcro. Our cargo bag experienced sleet, hailstorm, and extended (many days) continuous heavy rains, and never did one drop of moisture get inside. I can't speak to using the included rubbery mat as intended (to go under the cargo bag if using it directly on the car roof), because we secured the cargo bag directly to our Jeep Wrangler's roof rack, but I can say it is made of pretty sturdy stuff—we used it to stop rough things secured on our trailer-hitch cargo rack from rubbing/wearing on our spare tire cover, and it came through in great shape. Bottom line: The FIVKLEMNZ Car Rooftop Cargo Carrier held up through several thousand miles over three weeks of constant use, accessing it sometimes several times a day, and in weather extremes (hot and sunny, windy, cold, rainy, snowy).
