can be reversed for near freezing notification.
Product works well - alarm is too quiet. Set up, could be better. Looking back I wish it was on 2 AA batteries and a louder alarm. But it fits my needs to prevent or address a freezing condition on a water tank.

Instructions for Setting the Alarm.
Most of the negative reviews are related to the challenge of setting the alarms on this tiny little device. My own confusion originally led me to rate it poorly however once you know how to program the unit, it's actually pretty useful. First of all, press and hold the alarm button. It will show you the current maximum temperature that it will accept. Which is approximately 39 degrees Fahrenheit and probably fine for the fridge. If you want to change that temperature hold the button on the back of the unit. The temperature will increase and eventually it will scroll all the way around to start at the lowest acceptable temperature. Now push the alarm button again and you will be setting the lowest tolerable temperature. If you push and release the alarm button it will toggle between being on and off. This is useful because when you use your refrigerator or freezer often the temperature will increase above your set point. After six years our refrigerator has been acting up, so this little cheap unit can be a lifesaver for the food in my refrigerator

Very non-intuitive settings
This product works, BUT, the settings and names that they use are very hard to understand. For example, they call the temperature probe that will be placed in your fridge/freezer as OUT. The external display is called IN. So strange to name them that way. Another odd one is the way you have to set the min/max temperatures. It takes some playing around with and KEEP THOSE INSTRUCTIONS! But at the end of the day this device does work so I’m giving it 4 stars, the deduction is purely for the interface/settings.I will update this review if the unit ever fails.

Not sure it works... Update - It does! :) ... or not... :/
This thermometer is easy enough to set up, but it's not intuitive. Don't lose the instructions! As far as operation, I don't think it actually works. I am using it to monitor the temperature on my heated sun porch where I keep my plants. I want to know if something happens and my heater stops working. I check it several times a day and find that it always says the temperature on the sun porch is 57.4 degrees, and the temperature inside is 63. 5 degrees. Meanwhile, my old fashioned thermometers on the sun porch range between 60 degrees at night and 75 or 80 degrees in the daytime, and my indoor temperature fluctuates depending on a variety of factors. I don't know if this thermometer will let me know if the temperature on the sun porch drops below 50 because it doesn't seem to know.2-13-2021 The temperature did drop to 50 a couple of hours ago and the alarm sounded several times loudly enough to hear. :)2-16-2021 Today was a bright, sunshiny day, so I was surprised to hear the alarm go off in the middle of the afternoon. I checked the temp on the indoor gauge, and it said the temp on the sun porch was 49F. I stepped onto the sun porch and found that the actual temp was a little over 90F. Now (several hours later) the actual temp is 65F, but the gauge still registers 49F; however, it is not sounding the alarm, which is set to go off at 50F.

Does its job and it's easy to read!
This item to keep an eye on the temperature in our freezer as we had recently lost all of our Frozen Goods because of a malfunction and did not realize that the freezer had warmed up. This thermometer is easy to read and has a minimum and maximum temperature that has been reached. It has a magnet tell hold it on the freezer but the magnet does not hold it there it is 2 weak. The sensor goes inside of a freezer it would be nice if it add adhesive to hold it on the side of the freezer. The alarm is not very loud.

It works. The alarm is loud. That is all I need.
After my deep freezer inadvertently opened once (after being shoved shut) and I lost about $400 worth of steaks, I decided I needed an alarm. My first alarm was a fancy unit that would communicate with my phone. Well, that was hard to set up, didn't work well, and the in-house alarm was not loud enough. This unit works just fine. It's cheaper, simple to set up, and the alarm is loud enough to be heard throughout my house. It won't send a message to my phone when I am away from home, but I'll take that chance. Just double check that door on the freezer every time you close it!

The Alarm quits on its own after 4 or 5 beeps. DO NOT BUY!
If I could give a negative number for the rating I would. I read the reviews regarding the difficulty to set the temperature but also read a top review that stated those reviews were not accurate and to do this step and that and your alarm would work. NONSENSE! IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PROGRAM TEMPERATURE SETTINGS. Furthermore, I forgot to remove the battery before leaving my garage area where the freezer is located to walk into my house. Obviously, my house is warmer than the factory settings on this device, thus causing the alarm to go off. It gave off 4 or 5 tiny beeps and then STOPPEDbeeping on its on. What the heck? If i didn't happen to have it in my hand or have been standing by my freezer waiting for it to break, I would have never heard it. I want a fog horn to go off and not stop until I disalarm it! If you keep a well stocked freezer do not waste your money on this. Returning this item immediately.

Quality thermometer at a nice price.
Very nice little thermometer. Straightforward design, Intuitive to operate and like that you can leave fridge door closed to monitor. Seems quite accurate with solid build and have had no problems so far with the magnets. Large display with 10th of a degree readings a plus. Also like the included Velcro probe mount kit (better than suction cups) and it also came with a battery. This will be a moneymaker--no more spoiled milk!
