Very sturdy, Very secure
Definitely a step up from the Kwikset that this replaced. Very sturdy, Very secure. Installed two myself on hurricane rated doors. The installation is a little tricky. Watched a youtube video first and still needed to discover certain things:- the holes in the deadbolt assembly that the hex head bolts pass through when engaged with the cylinders should be oriented up when the deadbolt assembly is inserted (not down).- the security shield has a couple springlike appurtenances that flex when the security shield is attached to the outer cylinder. These appurtenances must be forcibly compressed and then the security shield is slid slightly to engage the outer cylinder. There are some shallow grooves that the security shield engages. This should hold the security shield onto the outer cylinder enough to allow insertion in the lock assembly hole. The security shield must be properly aligned for the bolts to engage properly the threaded holes in the outer cylinder.- when everything is assembled and aligned properly, it all fits together. if it is not fitting then something is wrong. I had to work with this a while - the first installation took some time. These second installation took maybe 15 - 20 minutes.- the shiny steel ball ball bearings go in the bolt holes in the outer cylinder.- the black ball bearings may be inserted into the hex heads of the hex bolts. Do not insert unless and until you are absolutely sure that everything works and that you will NEVER EVER want to remove the lock. The black ball bearings prevent drilling out the hex bolts and are impossible to remove. Obviously, the Allen wrench cannot be inserted once the ball bearings are in the hex heads.- the removable key thumb turn did not work correctly on one lock. The problem was that the key was not perpendicular to the thumb turn so that the key did not engage the cylinder correctly. I loosened the set screw, slightly adjusted the angle of the key with respect to the thumb turn and problem solved.- I decided to leave the inside cover plate off for now until I am sure everything is working. The cover plate is held in place by a circular spring, and I suspect that this is fiendishly hard to remove once in place. Try a dental pick? Can definitely be installed by someone with some basic skills and a few tools - Allen wrench, Phillips head screwdriver (I used a drill with a Phillips head bit). Also needed a sharp chisel to adjust the mount in the doorjamb for the box.

The Best and highest rated deadbolt lock on the market that ...
The Best and highest rated deadbolt lock on the market that truly enhances door security. Very heavy construction. Comes with heavy box strike plate, and 3" screws to penetrate the stud behind the door frame. Also includes heavy gauge metal cover to hide the unsightly attachment bolts on the interior. I got the double cylinder style (keyed on both exterior and interior) for all three of my exterior doors. This works extremely well for doors with glass and/or sidelights. My wife suffers from dementia and tends to wander at night, the double cylinder deadbolt prevents her from opening the doors. I believe someone would have to break the door down before these locks would allow access. This lock is for the person seeking optimum security and peace of mind. Made for commercial or residential use. Highly recommend.

Great deadbolt, I would recommend it.
The Medeco Maxum Residential Deadbolt is solid and provides peace of mind. It was easy to install, but I didn't like the instructions. The instructions were a little vague. Maybe I'm getting old, but I didn't see how to remove the captive thumb turn after it was installed. I looked it up on You Tube. Overall, it's a great lock and I would recommend it.

Beware of What You Are Buying!
This could be dangerous because it also locks from the inside. If you take out the key and misplace it, you are locked inside your house! I would recommend just buying a single cylinder lock instead!

Worth the extra security it offers
It's a serious lock. Not those toys made from those products sold at big box retailers.

Top notch security
A bit pricey, but good security is worth the price.
