This product is not a tablet... it is a powder. It is 100% sodium bicarbonate (same thing as baking soda). If you want to raise the alkalinity in your pool you can do it by using baking soda which is much cheaper. A 4 lb. box at Walmart costs about $2.25.

This product is not soda ash. It is sodium bicarbonate, commonly known as baking soda. To increase alkalinity 10 ppm in a 20,000 gallon pool, you would add approximately 3 lbs. of alkalinity increaser or baking soda. (Adjust according to your pool size). Simple baking soda is the same product as alkalinity increaser and can actually be purchased much cheaper (about $2.25 for a 4 lb. box at Walmart). Soda ash will increase both alkalinity and pH.

Alkalinity increaser is the same product no matter what brand you buy. For an even cheaper solution, just buy regular baking soda (large boxes) at Walmart or Amazon. Compare the labels on alkalinity increaser from the pool store and on regular baking soda..... they are the same..... sodium bicarbonate. I have owned a pool for years and I only use baking soda to increase alkalinity in my pool water when needed.
