Fantastic dashcam and fee so good to have something recording all the time.
Got the hardwire kit along with the R3. That allows for parking mode to be enabled. Which is something I need as our last car seemed to be a magnet for people hitting our car in a parking lot. Now we'll have proof and something to use to find people if they hit our Volvo XC60.Once the hardwire kit was installed (less than an hour) I put in the dashcam. Paired it with the software and it needed a firmware update. Highly suggest you do this before installing in the car. The firmware update lost all the settings I had setup and needed to reformat the SD card. Even the SSID of the WiFi changed after the firmware update.Drove around the neighborhood and saw I had to rotate the rear camera 180. That fixed that problem.Downloaded videos and at 1 min a piece it still takes a while to get the video over the 5GHz WiFi. But the video quality of all 3 cameras is excellent. Each cam saves the video to a different subdirectory aptly named Front, Cabin and Rear. Works great with my Android Pixel 7 Pro and the Rove app. Remember to use the popup Android presents because the WiFi has no internet connection you still want to remain connected to the WiFi.The front/cabin cam is on the suction cup that works REALLY well. I like that I can adjust the angle of the camera with the suction cup. Not sure that will work too well with the sticky tape. The rear camera I applied the electrostatic sheet to the rear windshield and stuck the camera to that. So far holding up just fine. For those of you concerned with privacy there is ZERO CLOUD STORAGE of videos. They stay on the SD card until you download them to your phone. Then you can copy them to the cloud if necessary. I leave the WiFi on the dashcam turned off until I need to download.I have been wanting a dashcam now for a long time. This with the parking monitoring by having the hardwire kit is worth its weight in gold.I did use the Rove 512G SD card. While pricey it was worth the hassle free installation. The front cam lens filter can be had for less as someone else pointed out and it holds on fairly tightly for a friction fit lens.

Update - first one was defective, second one works great!
I contacted Rove and it was determined my first camera was defective. Since I bought two, I was able to switch out the camera and the other camera works perfectly. Video quality is great so far, I haven't tested enough at night to see how that is yet. Customer service is fantastic :)Camera seems nice, installation was easy, when it works the video quality is good.I put the camera in my car, powered it on, and struggled with the WiFi to connect to my phone even though the devices were inches apart. It kept connecting and then the WiFi signal was too weak and it would disconnect. Like I said they were inches apart. Formatted the SD card. Updated the firmware successfully but was afraid it would disconnect in the middle but it was okay. Camera worked normally that day.Yesterday when I was driving to work the camera completely froze and was unresponsive. The power button wouldn’t turn it off. One the way home it worked when I started the car, again it froze on the way home. Went to a store, camera came back on when I started the car and worked the rest of the drive home. Today on the way to work it froze again. I pulled over and turned the car off because the camera wouldn’t turn off. After 5 minutes I turned the car back on and the camera didn’t power on, the power button doesn’t turn it on. All of the connections are connected securely and the power is plugged in with the supplied adapter. So, I am expecting I will be returning it tomorrow.I am really fed up with this camera, and I bought one for a gift for my husband but I am not installing another one with the way this one has performed. So, both will be going back.I would not recommend this camera to a friend or purchase it again.I bought it because of all of the fantastic R2 reviews.

Love it so far
I've had the R3 installed for a few days now. So this is a first impressions review. Hard to give a complete review with so little time using the product. I researched dashcams for a few months. I found that there are only a couple manufacturers who make the sensors for all dashcams. So the build quality, ease of installation and software quality are the only difference makers for me.Build quality seems to be decent, the magnetic holder for the front facing camera is awesome. I'm glad I went with the Rove R3 because it doesn't have a Li-ion battery. Do some research and you'll see extreme heat and cold are not good for batteries.Installation of this camera set-up was pretty easy. Disclaimer: I used to install after-market automotive electronics, years and years ago. While the electrical components have changed dramatically, the physical install of a system like this hasn't changed much. I have a 2019 GMC Canyon (4-door model) and there was a large amount of extra cable for the rear camera. I tucked it up in the headliner and made sure it was not near any of the airbags. It took me 90 minutes to install the system, including the hardwire kit (which took a majority of the time).Software is decent. I saw a lot of complaints about the mobile app. I use an Android phone and didn't see a lot of issues with it. Sometimes the Wi-Fi doesn't want to connect but turning it off on the phone and back on fixed it. The app has way more functionality than I'll ever need. My initial settings for 'Parking Mode' didn't take and it was constantly recording while parked, I had it set to only record if a collision was detected. I popped back into the app and checked that my settings were still set as I wanted and it has been working fine since. Most people might find it easier to use the camera screen to adjust settings, but the way I mounted mine, I can't easily see the screen as it is blocked by my rearview mirror. (Yes, the cabin camera still has a full view of the inside)For the price and the features this system has, I'd say you can't go wrong with it. From other reviews it sounds like the customer service is pretty good too, hopefully I won't need to find out for myself. Instructions are pretty well laid out and as long as you're somewhat mechanically inclined and can follow directions, installations should be pretty easy.
