This is a great product. It works by not only transmitting your ipod (or other source) music over an unused frequency but also disconnects your car's antenna from your radio at the same time. That way there's even less chance for a stray signal to be picked up to compete with your music. The sound quality seems very good to me and my kids say they can't tell a difference between what they hear from their car's speakers and what the music sounds like through the ipod earbuds. I have installed one of these in each of my two kid's cars. The hardest part was finding out how to remove the trim and radio without breaking anything. Once the radio was pulled out for access to the antenna, installing the device was simple and straight forward. The only complaint I have is that the length of wire that connects the aux.jack and antenna kill switch to the modulator is too short. If your going to mount the jack right next to the radio it's not a problem. On my son's car that's what I did because he has a little shelf right under his radio (89 Volvo 240) to set his ipod on. On my daughters 99 Chev Prizm however there is no place close to the radio to place the ipod. I mounted the jack and antenna kill switch on the console next to the e-brake. I barely had enough wire to reach. I was forced to hang the modulator down by the gas pedal and stuff it behind the front of the console moulding. If I had had a few more inches I could have zip tied it neatly behind the radio and just the wires would have been behind the moulding. I would have given this device 5 stars if enough wire had been provided, but that .0001 cents worth of wire shortage was a real pain. As cheap as the wire is they should give a couple extra FEET so you can mount things correctly. Other than that issue however I am very pleased with how well it works.

Low cost MP3 input works well
I bought this item for about $25 and went to a local auto stereo installation place. The installed it for me for $45. So for $70 overall, I got the mp3 input that I wanted, while keeping my factory stereo in my car. There is a black wire coming out of my dash near the electrical outlet, so it's not as inviting to a car thief to come and smash my window. Recently, my window was broken in a "smash and grab" and the FM transmitter iRiver AFT 100 Mobile FM Transmitter stolen. The FM transmitter was about $50, but the window cost $250 to replace. So having the factory stereo was very important, to deter car thieves.I don't have any static like I did with the FM transmitter. My car is a 2006 Hyundai Accent 4-door (Canadian made). My MP3 player is an iRiver Clix IRiver clix - Digital player / radio - flash 2 GB - WMA, Ogg, MP3 - video playback - display: 2.2" I put the volume around 20 on the Clix and about 25 on the car stereo, tuned to 88.3.The other stations still play clearly, whether I turn the FM Modulator off or not.If you want an inexpensive MP3 input, while keeping your factory stereo and a low profile for car theives, this is a good unit and I recommend it.

ROCKS MY WORLD
ROCKS MY WORLD, but not without issues!!Once install this little jewel totally Rocks! but the install was difficult because of shotty workmanship. The fuse holder had no little wings to keep it locked in place. whomever had to have seen this issue during the construction and/or QA process, if there was a QA process...After we cut off and soldered on our own fuse holder the install was pretty uneventful and the sound quality is exceptional imho. Unlike others posting comments on this device, Mine will not work without the switch on. Channel assignment was simple and so quick. Near perfect CD quality. No his or hum... Love it, but only 3 stars because of fuse holder problems...I have tried different FM transmitter type devices in the past, but this by far surpasses them all in sound quality! The on/off switch is loose in the glove compartment right now and needs to be mounted on the dash for easy, quick access, which I will after getting a higher quality RCA jacks to 3.5mm female jack, cable to mount on the dash as well..I have already recommended this to several friends!!

Does what it says...just not very well
Install: This item does not come with a cigarette lighter attachment, just a ground and a hot wire. It also doesn't come with instructions...in English, but don't go on the Scosche web site, because there is no mention of this product there. I eventually figured out how to get power form one of my cigarette lighter ports.Usage: I have been using this for about three weeks now. I use this for my Sirius radio and my Ipod. While there is no static, there is an occasional popping noise, but not a lot. That's not so bad, but the volume is horrible!!! I listen mainly to pod casts in my car and usually have to have the volume up all the way on both my Ipod and my car stereo. And since I am on busy freeway most of the time if a loud vehicle goes by I can't hear. Also, forget about listening to music. Any base in the music will cause my speakers to make splashing sound, almost like my speakers are blown, which they aren't. It doesn't matter what level I have the volume on either my Ipod or the stereo, I always get that sound. It seems the poor design of the device can't handle any base at all.I rated this device at 2 stars only because it does function, just not well. I would try a different one if your looking into a device like this.

Better than a tape adapter ... but don't expect CD quality audio
I purchased this to install in my 17 year old Volvo because I wanted to add the functionality of an AUX port without replacing a double DIN head unit. The install is super easy but the box is rather large and if you have limited space behind the head unit you might have trouble finding enough space for it. Overall it works well but there is considerable interference from the engine that results in a whine that changes pitch with engine rpm - it's only really noticeable when the audio is low but it's enough to be annoying. I'm sure that there are some DIY hacks out there that I could preform to improve the sound quality and eliminate the interference but I haven't had the time to research them yet. Having said that though the overall sound quality is much better than the tape adapter that I was using previously. All in a decent buy with some small improvements that can be made.
