Great for people who hate snakes
I had a 6' bull snake that seemed to want to live around the house. Doesn't matter how much I try to relocate her, she always came back. I purchased this to help me do it much safer. It's built nice and will always save me. Living in the country snakes are something I need to deal with and this is the #1 tool!

Great Product
Let's start with I hate snakes. I mean, I really hate snakes. So, why would I want a snake handler if I detest the creatures so much? Easy, I live on a swamp and the slithering creatures are constantly an issue. And, with two dogs, I don't want them getting into a scrap with a snake. Thankfully, the snakes I have around my property (and in my basement and sometimes attic) are non-poisonous. However, occasionally I need to remove one when I see it before my dogs decide to see what it is. I don't want them to get bitten or for them to kill the snake (they do have their purpose in the ecosystem).I recently used the snake tongs for the first time. I walked outside and found a four-foot snake just sunbathing. Thankfully, the dogs went the other direction, so I grabbed my snake tongs and proceeded to kindly request the slithering fiend to leave my yard. The snake did strike at the pole, but I was able to firmly grip the sucker and help it out of my yard. The snake coiled around the pole (nowhere near me), which did make helping him out of my yard and onto a stack of rocks very easy. I gently lifted the snake over the fence and placed him down on the rocks. When I released the snake, the snake quickly slithered into the rocks out of sight. I haven't seen that snake again. So, my first attempt at using these tongs proved very successful. I really liked how I was able to handle the snake from a distance. Again, I don't like them. I don't like them at all. However, I have come to realize that they are part of life living in nature. Now, if I could just find a way to get them to stay out of my house. Sigh...

Better than getting bit!
To be honest, I thought it was too short. Dealing with rattlesnakes, I'd prefer a 10' pole! But it works great. I think it auto ratchets and stays locked closed, but I'll never trust that feature. Comes with a spare cable which is nice.

Caught first rattlesnake
We live in the country and just used it to catch our first rattlesnake! Felt so much safer using this rather than a shovel. We will always have this available on our property.

UPDATE: Locking mechanism faulty
UPDATE: The customer service is excellent and took care of the problem. The lock doesn't work on mine. I've watched the tutorials and still no luck. The engineering of the lock seems poor, I'll be looking for a different tool.
