but not that sturdy..
After about a year's reliable use, both leashes have had problems. Perhaps our 75 lb golden retriever is too strong for it, but she broke the strap near the metal spring-clip at the end. I had to take apart the other leash a couple times when the retraction mechanism unwound its spring internally. The second time I tried to repair it yesterday, it failed to maintain its tension, so I tossed it and ordered another brand of retractable leash. This was cheap, but not that sturdy...probably not intended for large or rambunctious dogs.

OK for an old slow dog
Quality wise the product is fine. But this was designed by someone who does not own a dog. The 'cord' is ribbon style which has strength, but creates problems for dogs who love to twirl or run in circles... I'm constantly having to untwist the cord so that it does not jam up the unit. Second issue is the lock. it works like an ink pen. click-click its locked, click-click its unlocked, there is no real braking functionality. Again this would work fine for an old slow dog or a well trained dog, not for a puppy full of energy.

Weird and not durable
This leash was okay when I first got it, but I don’t like how it locks to one length. Most other retractable leashes I’ve used have a button you press to hold at a certain length then another button to lock it. With this leash, you have to click the button forward once to lock and forward again to unlock (there’s no option to just hold). I kind of adjusted to that but a piece of the leash broke so that the length no longer adjusts after only 3 months. I used this leash for a 35lb terrier so I don’t think it had anything to do with particularly heavy use. Definitely would not buy again.

Ok
My dog is 10lbs and pretty well behaved.Pros: sturdy, large handle, very long lead.Cons: can't quickly click to retract, leading to times when I'm pulling the lead by hand, takes 2 clicks to retract.Unfortunately this seems to be the design of all the leashes on the market today. I just keep the lead short all the time.

Not happy!
I bought 2 of these when I moved. The first one broke within week one. The second one is still working, but barely. Its not retracting properly and the one that broke completely stopped retracting. The one that is still working, if you can call it that, retracts super slow and the leash itself keeps sliding up in between the casing and catches.

Ups and downs
Is hard to know how to rate this leash because the first opportunity she got, the dog chewed it in two. That and it had no place to clip the dog poo bag holder on. Fits comfotrably in the hand and rolls out and retracts nicely.

Three Stars
it's a bit bulky since I work 2 dogs with different leashes but it works.

Not good for large or strong dogs.
My dog saw a cat and quickly darted towards it and the lock on the leash slipped and the leash broke. I own a small dog, so this pressure shouldn't be enough to cause this. I would worry about walking a larger dog with this leash, especially around cars or other dangers.
