Good Value just under $7
I know, I know,.. the cap doesn't stay on. They never do so there's no surprise there. For some reason the nicer ones I've had never did. I usually have a piece of interlocking poly foam or something laying around and I make my own by cutting a square and sticking the blade into it. It holds on great and doesn't come off where most do. If I lose it, I make another in 10 seconds and its done. Maybe because it's a good handle, they go cheap on the caps to save .0005 cents. Heh, I don't know. But it does work very well, Not a lot of them have the metal ball on the end anymore Most people I talk to don't realize what that's for. It's for tapping down pieces that turn up from cutting stencils, edges or whatever you're doing. Imagine you are cutting the end of a hot rod flame point. You always flow your blade out toward the end of the flame to come to a point and you cuts criss-cross, and so on. Sometimes you don't have room or whatever to do that, or you have a bubble etc. When a piece pops up you use that like a roller to message it back down or to assure a good seal so paint won't bleed in. If you're doing sensitive work, you do not want to use your finger, oils and salts can affect the material and whatever you may be applying to it. That's why it s smooth with no lines or mold seams, to aid you as a tool rather than having to grab a different one. In short, it has one. So it's not a regular ole' cheapoe knife since someone thought it important enough to include that detail. The handle contou'rs great to hold and the rubber is firm and good grip without being gooshie when you're trying to work details. It does have a bump, to prevent table roll. But still round enough for you to pivot by rolling your fingers to produce even and gradual curves. Man, I need to get another hobby. Have fun and enjoy.

Quality that lasts
I bought this as a replacement for a nearly identical one I bought over 20 years ago, which still worked just fine, but the silicone cover started breaking down. Always a solid hold on the blades, comfortable grip and the larger size eases hand fatigue. Blades have always been plenty sharp and kept their edge, but are subjective to the brand you use (I've used a variety). I really like the improved grip area with the textured surface. Really happy X-acto is still making these

Nice knife
Love how it’s covered in rubber and it resists rolling. Very comfortable to use for several hours at a time. The cap falls off very easily. I would not trust it to stay on if you put it in your pocket. Heck it has fallen off just sitting in a drawer at work.

Excellent knife
I've used xacto knives for over 50 years, and I'd rate this handle as the best. It's easy to grip, doesn't slip, and the end cap can be placed on the non-knife end of the handle when the knife is used (which helps in not losing the cap). The knife blade itself -- this knife comes with one blade -- is extremely sharp and is very useful for fine, detailed work. I bought the Gripster model at the same time as I purchased this X2000 model and, in my opinion, the X2000 outperforms the Gripster. The end cap is a little fragile but that is a minor nit; I bought the knife for the blade, not for the cap, and the blades are excellent.

The Cap Fits Fine
I have seen many reviews claiming the cap falls off easily. That is not the case, at least for the one I have. It fits down in the rubberized collar. Just carefully position it evenly and grip it with your thumb and finger down by where it attaches (not near the tip of the blade) and firmly push it in.As far as build quality, it feels nice in the hand and has some weight to it. It does not feel cheap. For the price you can't beat it. Definitely an upgrade from the all metal version that rolls around when you set it down. I won't comment on the blade other than to say it's an X-Acto blade. It's what you'd expect. Came in a day and half. Very pleased with purchase

Very sharp and worth the money
Okay here goes. Over and over I heard the cap doesn't stay on the cap doesn't stay on the cap the cap the cap. My cap stays on just fine you push it on it's snug oh, and there you have it sometimes I wonder about all of these reviews maybe they fixed it. But anyway there you have it. Sharp, feels good in your hand. Easy to change the blade. And the cap stays on just fine what do you know!

Cap Falls Off
I’m actually disappointed, I specifically bought the Xacto Brand knife to insure I was getting the quality Xacto has delivered my entire life. Sadly not the case. You need the Cap to say on!! It’s quite possible the most important part of the knife when not in use. I have been seeing poor quality from most brands we have come to expect a better product from.. The Cost is up and the Quality is down. Shame on You Xacto!!! Sad.

The rubber on the handle makes it very easy and comfortable to hold unlike the stainless steel ones
Works as advertise. The rubber on the handle makes it very easy and comfortable to hold unlike the stainless steel ones. It is very sharp and I would recommend this to anyone that would require a precision knife. Heck even if you don't really need one you should get it anyways. It great for opening packages with a taped seal

A Fine Knife Holder
Excellent rubber, seems sturdy enough for a shop floor usage. Very precise, nice weight, and inexpensive. Thanks for all the fish!
