Pro-tips to get this to work great!
I was pleased to see this thing is probably actually 400 amps. When I pushed 375 amps through it it got warm but the fuse didn't blow. The reason I say "probably" 400 amps is because I didn't blow the fuse but I never pushed it to say 500 amps just to be sure the fuse actually did blow, but looking at that quality of the fuse, it seems like it is a well made one and the thickness looks to be good enough to handle 400 amps I believe. There are a few things to make sure this thing works real good for you for a long time:Pro-tips:1. When you get it, take out the fuse and put it back in to make sure it's seated perfectly plus you'll learn how this one works if you are unfamiliar with this type of fuse or rarely get a chance to mess with one.2. Second, if you are installing this in a boat, RV, Toy Hauler, Van, or anything that moves and or jostles, use thread locker of some kind. Lok-tight works fine or any of the other name brands all work. Use the blue color, for gods sake don't use red or worse. You'll read horror stories of things coming loose and then a short and a bridge created by wires melting together and boom, fire. You can really save yourself a lot of headache by just adding some thread locker even though they do have lock washers, I personally like belt AND suspenders when it comes to things that can burn my RV to the ground.3. As mentioned by others, the little cap doesn't really fit well. Some used zip ties but I did something different. I got some Velcro cable ties of the right length like you can find here on amazon, just search Multi-Colour-Management-Adjustable-Fastening-Multi-Purpose. I slipped two of these under the mounting block before screwing it down. Now the ties won't go any place and I am not cutting zip ties or trying to manipulate it out from under some other kind of permanent tie if I need to mess with the block. I just undo the velcro and bingo, the plastic cover comes off.Pro-pro-tip! To make this super trick, when I mounted the velcro ties, I didn't just go under the block, I screwed THROUGH the ties themselves by placing them under the holes where I sent the screws through. This means the velcro ties are held SOLID and will not move or get loose as my Toy Hauler or RV bumps around down dirt roads and the plastic cap is exactly where I set it no matter how much jarring it takes.Little bit of work up front and you'll never have to mess with this again unless you blow a fuse which is exactly the kind of dull reliability we want from these kinds of items.

Good product, but cover will fall off
Very robust terminals. Composite material should insulate well the high amperage passing through it. However, like other reviewers, I found that the cover will not stay on if this is mounted vertically. Simple solution though. I drilled a small hole in the angled base area, wide enough for a zip tie to pass through. I use a zip-tie to hold the cover on. Works fine.

Very solid
I bought this fuse for my battery system on my TT. It was solidly made and easy to install. I've not done any technical or destructive testing of course, but it seems a very good product.

No this is a fuse and holder!
Excellent product and priced competitively against the other scrap.

It's a great fuse holder.
Worked well as the main fuse for a battery relocation. Exactly what I needed.

Solidly build and well worth the extra few bucks
I bought this fuse holder for use in a solar/battery system.I was pleasantly surprised by the build quality and "beefy-ness" of the fuse holder. I won't worry at all about the mechanical strength of this device. In addition, included were the protective cover shown and two rubberized terminal boots (I didn't end up using them in this installation) ... nice bonus.

So far so good
Installed as expected. I hope I never find out if it works.

RV starter circuit
This fuse holder is robust and was an excellent replacement for the originals used on my 1999 diesel pusher motorhome. I would purchase it again
