Converted this French presser
I want to start this review by stating that I havenât used a drip coffee maker in years. I am what people describe as a âcoffee snob.â I grew up drinking the traditional Mr. Coffee-style drip brew that my parents were happy with and wasnât happy with the plastic taste and lack of flavor that came with each cup, even though they always bought the âreally niceâ models. I canât stand drinking coffee from restaurants or even mainstream coffee shops, as they still lack the flavor and taste that I want with my coffee. Iâm also less than impressed with Keurig coffee and other single-serve brewing systems. For years, as a result of these tastes, I initially made pour-over coffee, then transitioned to the French press method as the best, richest, and full-bodied coffee that Iâve ever had, and I only use certain brands/types of coffee. Itâs one of the few things I splurge on.Then I bought a house with a septic and no garbage disposal. And my coffee grounds became a Big Problem with my husband due to concerns about clogging the system â which is valid â not to mention that now we have room for guests, running out to Dunkin Donuts to get a box of coffee for them has become inconvenient, since people donât want to wait 15 minutes for me to slowly brew them cups of coffee. All things considered, I decided I had to finally bite the bullet and procure an automatic coffee maker.I did a lot of research on the SCAA approved coffee makers since I didnât want to compromise my taste. After reading about how the heart-attack-inducingly-expensive Technivorm requires âstirring the grindsâ in order for even water dispersal (I mean, who wants to babysit the coffee if youâre getting an automatic machine? For me that totally defeats the point), I turned my attention to the second best recommended coffee maker that was far more affordable, the Bonavita. I saved up and purchased one only to find that it felt flimsy and the carafe leaked buckets, retaining liquid inside the upper lid, no matter what I did. Back to the drawing board.I looked at all of the other SCAA certified coffee makers and kept coming back to this Cuisinart PurePrecision Pour Over brewer. It looked very new, was a fairly reasonable price, and the top reviewer notes that he has compared it to the other certified coffee makers and prefers it, which gave me some reassurance. I had a bit of trepidation since there wasnât a lot of feedback or reviews online since this model is so relatively new, but decided I would give it a shot. The design is very sleek. It looks great in our kitchen â my husband, who doesnât drink coffee, even commented that it has become a statement piece on our counter. (Photo attached; glass foggy as it was just cleaned with hot water.) The coffee maker looks and feels sturdy, with an impressive display and simple controls that make programming it easy. You set the auto-on time and can also set an auto-off time for the heating pad beneath the glass carafe. I found it interesting that the device comes with a charcoal filter designed to improve the waterâs taste should the owner not utilize a water filter on their own. As I use ZeroWater filter pitchers, I probably will not replace the filter when the time comes as I consider it unnecessary.Since other reviewers noted that the steel carafe has leaking issues, as well as the Bonavita I had tried, I chose the glass carafe. I donât care about heat retention because I pour my coffee immediately into my Zojirushi thermos and go to work in the morning, which keeps the coffee piping hot. What matters to me is whether or not the carafe leaks when I pour from it. And this one does not. If heat retention is a concern, increasing the amount of time prior to the auto-off is probably good idea. I can say that the coffee brewed by this machine is as hot as when I boil water to French press, and Iâve been satisfied by the temperature. As I am the sole coffee drinker in my household, I make about 4 cups and use 2 scoops of coffee per cup. While this is below the recommended flavor amount for the machine (Cuisinart recommends making at least 6 cups for best flavor), I still thoroughly enjoy the coffee made. It is strong and full-bodied, rich. I have used up to coarse coffee and have no problems with it. The one thing I will note - there is almost an imperceptible burr to the flavor of the coffee with this coffee maker that is not there, is smoother, when it is prepared with the French press method, but it is so negligible a difference that it can be overlooked in favor of the time savings and ease of clean-up that comes with this machine. In conclusion, I highly recommend this coffee maker. It produces the best coffee that I have ever tasted from an automatic/drip machine and I am happy with my purchase. I am awarding this product 5 stars and, in my opinion, it is deserving of its SCAA certification. If something should happen or my satisfaction changes, I will update this review.::UPDATE MARCH 2018::This coffee maker still works like it is brand new. I'm still very impressed with it and still love it. I have experienced no issues with water fog or the display dimming, and I periodically clean it out by doing a vinegar/water flush until the water runs clear. I use it every day and have no regrets about my purchase. And, since apparently there is someone on this site attempting to cast doubt on this review and that of the other top reviewer, I can affirm here that I was not given a discount on this product, I was not paid to do this review, I was not asked by the company to do a review, and I have not received any subsequent discounts or perks from doing this review. I am simply a lover of coffee.

Looks great and works well
Love this coffee maker. It not only looks sleek and doesn't take up too much space, but the settings on this machine allow for customization in temperature and strength. One of the most important features is the "blooming" period, an important step for getting the full flavor. Quality product.

Makes Good Tasting, Hot Coffee (Glass Carafe Version)
Bought this brewer about 2 months ago. Some first impressions:Unlike many other brewers, it continues to brew HOT coffee three weeks later. Many other brewers would only brew warm coffee as they were used because of water sediment build-up in the heating element. This one continues to brew hot, as it should. The carafe is easy to clean daily with soap and water. The brewer is easy to descale with white vinegar. The controls are easy to use. You can change the brew temperature and the boldness of the coffee.Using filtered water helps keep the brewer free of sediment. I use a surge protector to keep the electronics free of damage from power spikes. When purchased on sale, this brewer is far less expensive than other highly rated SCA coffee brewers.I gave it 4 stars because the ring that attaches the handle to the carafe seems flimsy, like it will be a future point of failure. I've been handling the carafe carefully when cleaning it because of this.

My husband the coffee freak loves it
Iâm not much of a coffee drinker (I know, I know...), but my husband is a classic fanatic about it. He needs his coffee every day, sometimes more than a pot, which means flavor + reliability are equally necessary for his habit.I donât know what it is about the cheaper machines, but their reliability was not up to par. Weâve gone through about six or seven of the normal machines until I said enough was enough. For his birthday, I got the DH this machine. Yeah, itâs expensive. But, oh, is it worth every penny spent on it.Itâs a beautiful machine thatâs metal, with fewer plastic parts, which makes me think it will hold up for a while. Yeah, it takes up a bigger chunk of counter space, but it looks good doing it.The coffee tastes like coffee shop/great diner coffee. I guess itâs from the way the water comes out to hit the grounds, not in one floppy drip, but more like a shower spray over the entire basket. The literature said something about a âbloomingâ process similar to French press coffee, and this machine gets reallyâreallyâclose to that flavor. The charcoal filters also help to keep any nasty tap water flavors/sediments out of the machine, a plus with our hard water. We have a filter on tap, but anything that misses, the charcoal will weed out. This will prolong the reliability and reduce the need for cleaning out the lines and reservoir.Bonus: It makes coffee F-A-S-T. Iâm used to putting on the coffee and getting breakfast cooked by the time a pot fills up. Not with this machine! Now the coffee is ready well before I get bacon out of the skillet. The husband doesât even program it anymore, just loads it up the night before and hits the brew button when he gets up. By the time he has his 20 oz cup, spoon and sugar ready to go, a cup is already brewed for him, or close to it.The only minus is that the controls take some getting used to. The labels arenât entirely clear, so it took me a minute to figure out how to start the machine right away when I filled it. It seemed not to respond when I pushed what seemed like the logical button (far left), but a few seconds later, I heard everything go into motion. A minor problem not worth reducing a star. Two other minuses: This machine requires charcoal filters to operate, an added cost to using it. At least those can be had for cheap, if you shop around. The other minus is the #4 drip filters (cone) rather than cheaper basket filters. But I can live with that, to get the advantages of this machine. In the end, I see this not as outrageously expensive for fricking coffee, but a kitchen investment, much like my Cuisinart food processor (still going strong after 25 years!), Le Creuset cookware (same), or the 1961 Kitchen Aid stand mixer that my MIL gave me. I expect it to put out great coffee for many years to come, and that, plus my husbandâs happiness with the great coffee, makes it worth the price tag.

Fabulous coffee maker!
This is the best coffee maker I've ever had, it not only looks great and fits beautifully on the counter but it's easy to clean and makes really good coffee. It takes some getting used to the cone filters and they are more expensive than the bucket style filters but nevertheless I'm extremely pleased with this purchase.

Excellent coffee machine
I was not sure what to expect from this machine. The reviews are all over the place. I like the steel basket for grounds. The entire machine is easy to clean. I like the water reservoir, it is easy to fill and has a separate hinged lid for the grounds and the water. This is much better than a removable lid. I am not sure the little water filters do anything. It might if your tap water isn't verry good. This make just enough coffee for two people that drink a couple of largeish cups. If you have giant coffee cups and drink multiple, you might want a larger unit. The brew temperature is consistent and the hot plate keep the coffee warm without affecting the flavour too much. The water distribution on the grounds seems good and the basket is deep enough that I am not worried about over filling. I am also likening the ability to program it to run in the morning, this is a highly under rated feature. The LED panel is also not too bright. It was really well designed. Clearly a lot of thought went into this unit. I am pleased with it and hope to use it for many years and many thousand cups of coffee to come.

All good things besides leaking carafe
This coffee maker produces fantastic coffee, and the thermal carafe keeps coffee piping hot for a long time without any change in coffee quality. The one thing that loses a star is the carafe leaks when pouring, causing a little cleanup after every pour. That aside this is the best coffee maker Iâve ever had and would recommend it.
