Fun activities!
My boys are enjoying this book with their dad. They love to pick something to learn and complete the activities together. Really easy to read and the diagrams are simple enough to understand. Love that they are learning and having fun!

Awesome for all kids especially those who are outdoorsy
I purchased this as a gift, so while I won't be reading this from front to back I have looked through the book and read sections. This book is awesome and I will be buying another one for my own kids!I have looked at several different kids survival books and this one is by far the best one. I think knowing and understanding some basic bushcraft should be a must for everyone for those rare moments when your life may literally depend on basic knowledge. In my opinion, this book is absolutely perfect for ages 8-14. It has tons of really great suggestions from how to cook it out in the wild, how to tie ropes/knots how to make shelter how to make spatulas, bowls to drink out of, and sooo much more.Get it!

Full of basic knowledge and ideas. Great for kids.
I bought this book for my kids. We love to camp, bushcraft and learn new skills. They're pretty versed in outdoor skills I expected this book to maybe give them a few fun new ideas, and it did do that. It had lots of pictures and the explanations/directions were easily understood. This book wouldn't really be for a very experienced bushcrafting kid, but had enough fun ideas to keep most kids busy.

Outstanding Bushcraft Primer
I just finished reading Dan Wowak’s new book Bushcraft Kid. This is an excellent primer for kids wishing to learn camping and bushcraft skills and is beautifully illustrated. But it also has much useful information for adults more experienced in outdoor activities.Dan gives useful guidance about planning an outing, using knives and axes, making knots and lashings, woodland navigation, tarp pitches and setting up camp, gathering tinder and dry firewood and building fires, cooking, water purification, sharpening cutting tools, maintaining and repairing gear and tools, making cordage and a pine glue stick, and much more.I’ve been camping and bushcrafting all my life and still learned a number of useful things from Dan’s book. I will keep it on my shelf for reference along with my other books about camping and bushcraft.

Coalcracker's voice comes through.
It is not written directly with my 6 year old in mind and I am finding myself jumping to the point of each passage but, he is 6. The pictures of kids and tools are helping. Could Dan ha e written it for his age, sure but he would have lost the young teen. Knowing Dan from weekly videos really helps make the connection for my son. Over all I have no complaints. I am using any tools I can to teach my son useful life lessons and keep him grounded. This book is a nice addition. Thank you Dan for your efforr.

Coalcracker Bushcraft killed it.
I use this book to create projects for my 4-H kids to do in the Outdoor Survival Skills class I teach. Dan really did a great job breaking everything down. 10/10 for me.

A Great Introduction to the World of Bushcraft!
I have been watching Dan Wowak's YouTube page, Coalcracker Bushcraft with some regularity for awhile now. I really like how the videos are short and to the point. This book, Bushcraft Kid, is likewise, short and to the point. Ostensibly for older kids, I think this book can be enjoyed by anyone with an interest in the outdoors and bushcrafting. It's beautifully illustrated (the published DK is known for their high-quality books) and a very good read. I am looking forward to trying to craft some of the projects.

Absolutely Awesome
I have many Bushcraft books. This is superb for adults and kids. It has some superb practical tips and projects to enhance your skills in the woods. The basic nature of it presented for kids makes this just a lovely put together book. Wonderful gift for kid or adult Bushcrafter. Dan has a super YouTube channel called Bush Coal Cracker. He's one of the best teachers around. Lovely bloke. Top man.

Awesome book
Bought for my adventurous 11year old son, he loves this book. Lots of pictures to show how to do things which I like as my son has dyslexia so pictures are better for him. It's written very well, I found a you tube video of the author talking about the book which helped me decide to buy it.

Why is this not part of the curriculum?
Being a long term outdoorsman and follower of Coalcracker Bushcraft I understand the importance and critical nature of possessing survival skills. So it is only natural I pass these life saving skills on to my children. Dan has put together a fun step by step survival book on a level that kids can easily follow. From the basics of how to hold and care for your knife to making an outdoor toilet and crafting your own birch oil for your tools, this book really covers it all.

Great for kids and adults a like.
This book may be marketed towards kids but it is very useful for adults getting into bushcraft as well. It does not use child language and covers many skills plus has projects to work on that go along with those skills.Dan has a great YouTube channel called Coalcracker Bushcraft.
