Works as advertised just be sure to adhere to the 500 degree limit
I practice veganism. As a result, I should not use oil for cooking. That makes it a bit difficult to enjoy grilled veggies as many stick to the BBQ grill when oil is not used on the grates. The Grill Mat is perfect for grilling veggies without fat or oil. The mat lets grill marks show and I don't loose veggies through the grill slots. In addition the Grill Mat does a better job of cooking chicken with less splatter and more even cooking. While I haven't used it for baking as yet, I believe it will do a great cooking job.So what's the down side? 500 degrees limit. If you go over 500 degrees, the mat begins or looses it's non-stick ability while creating smoke that may be carcinogenic, from what I've read. BUT because you use it outdoors where the fumes are not closed into the living area or in baking where temperature can be easily controlled. It seems to be a minor issue.If you own birds, be aware of the danger to them from the gasses emitted when heated to above 500 degrees. It can be deadly for them.When using on the BBQ avoid flare ups as much as possible to avoid exposing the Grill Mate to temperatures above 500 degrees and you'll enjoy the product.

Perfect for seafood on the grill!
Really cool mats! I bought these for a summer BBQ and I decided to try using them with jumbo shrimp. Normally I wouldn't attempt to BBQ shrimp or fish because it sticks to the grill or falls through and the heat gets too hot. These mats work great for fish and shrimp. I sprayed it with a bit of oil and heated it up on the grill prior to putting anything on it. Once it was hot, I threw the shrimp on and they started cooking perfectly - we got that smoky open flame flavor without burning them or getting them stuck to the bars. I also tried making chicken wings on it and it also worked perfectly. I think these mats also work really great for fatty items because the fat isn't dripping directly on the flames causing a lot of smoking. And clean up with the mats is a breeze, I rinsed and scrubbed with soap and water and they came out looking as good as when I opened the box. I'm really excited that I've got 5 mats to use because if they all hold up as well as the first one did I won't even run out of mats! Highly recommended.

outstanding!! Must have for everyone!!
these are outstanding!!! I used these on a camping trip I took and they worked out so well. I didnt catch any fish to really try them out so i was disappointed in myself but, they worked great on my portable grill. I cooked coffee on one side of the grill and grilled a steak and dogs on the grill mats and the food was perfect. I cooked everything on the mats then removed the mats to get grill marks on the food and all was perfect. I love my steaks rare and juicy and thats what I got. The cleanup was awesome. cleanup while outdoors is usually a chore but no more. These roll up and I have a section on my back pack for things like this so they take up no extra room. Along with my camping pans and such these mats are now part of my "always must have" items on all camping trips. These are made of top quality material and dont rip easy at al!! They will definitely last through many uses of regular wear and tear and also through rugged use outdoors. These are definitely a must have for anyone who cooks outside.

Super! I love it
Super! I love it. I bought these to our camping trip and it was the last time we lost food in the middle of the grill. We still drop it from the sides. Haha. At first I felt skeptical and it seems like it would just cook it as if it was like a pan. But how wrong I was. It was able to cook the food as if it was an aluminum foil. It cook the food and it left the grill marks. It's about 99% non stick as well. All I had to do with wash it and all the burnt food fell off except for a few part where I scraped it a bit. But man! It's so much better than anything I have used on a BBQ and it's super inexpensive. Get it and you won't regret it.

Great product
This BBQ mat is great for cooking on the BBQ. The only reason I'm giving it a four star rating is because it feels a little cheap, and maybe could feel a little more durable. The hamburgers I cooked came out great and as you know homemade hamburgers usually fall apart when you put them on the grill. They all stayed together and the lady two or three minutes I had them on the grill I put them on the grill instead of the mat just to give them grill marks. The company could make them better by maybe making them a little thicker and adding a raised rim around the edge. The way they have them now just feels like they cut it off a roll of material. Well there is my two cents. Great product that works!!

but the following are annoying: 1
It does what it is supposed to do, but the following are annoying:1. MUST take care to oil the mat before putting it on the grill with food that might stick to the mat otherwise, such as fish that is cooked with the flesh side down (not the skin-side). It will otherwise stick to the mat and getting it released results in making pieces out of an otherwise solid chunk.2. The mat has NO ABILITY to stick to the grill. So, say you put a piece of sirloin steak, about two pounds on the mat. When you attempt to turn it over using a spatula (an ordinary implement for the task), the weight of the meat is enough to cause the mat to slide on the grill instead of holding steady to permit the spatula to get under the meat. It is not a problem of sticking to the mat, it is the weight of the object being cooked. Thus, this issue arises twice in the process; first to turn the item over, and the second when removing it to serve.This is the first time I have used a mat to cook on, so I have no comparison. Obviously, no mat at all is a solution. Think about it.

Awesome protection against crispy critter meat
These mats are totally awesome! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I use these on my outdoor grill all the time and they protect my meat from getting severely charred well over direct heat. They are also larger than most other mats I've tried from Amazon, not to mention that they are black which hides any burn marks. Other products are gold in color and end up looking pretty beat up overtime. But not these mats. I find I can reuse these at least 10 times. When I'm done grilling my meat, I take them out to the kitchen and wash it down withsoap and water and all the grease comes off. I simply roll it up and store it for the next time.
