Good all in one monitor! (yes, you can turn off temp display)
We have been using an Angelcare 1100 for over 5 years now so the AC517 was a welcome upgrade! The screen is easy to view and is pretty clear and the night vision is decent. We like that the movement monitor is integrated into the unit so we don’t have to rely on a separate piece that attaches to our child. Plus the technology had been reliable for us for over 9 years since we have been using Angelcare products for all of our children. One important note is that contrary to what other reviewers have said, you CAN TURN OFF the temperatures display on the camera. I attached a pic of the setting. So no annoying bright light if you do not want that feature for display. The parent unit still displays the temp. The touchscreen is not as sensitive as a cell phone or what society is used to so that is a slight downside. Also we wish the info bar would display all the time like our older model however we can appreciate how others may want the full screen view most of the time. The info bar shows up once the screen is pressed. If we could remove half a star we would.Overall we are happy with this monitor so far.

no night vision
UPDATE:So I contacted customer support by email about the night vision not working. They replied back promptly asking for the model and info off the back of the monitor. I gave them everything they asked for and they replied back stating they were sending me a replacment camera. it came to my house within a day! my husband hooked up the replacement camera and oh my goodness not only did the night vision work in a completely dark bedroom but the quality of the picture is so much better. I just had a bad camera. I am changing my stars from 3 to 5 because I am so pleased with this camera now and the customer service that i received.i bought this monitor due to so many rave reviews from my friends. I had a wifi cam before this one and it kept disconnecting in the middle of the night so i didn't trust it any longer.Pros:*nice portable parent monitor*battery life on the parent monitor lasts a long time. ( i mostly keep mine plugged in though unless i'm going to be walking around outside or in different rooms of the house)*great speaker quality. i can always hear my baby when he crys or even moves in his crib.*i haven't used the motion pad. i personally don't need it.Cons:*no night vision. i always have to turn on a lamp and it has to be close to the crib to be able to see him on the monitor at night. (this is very disappointing to me)

Great Monitor for the Price!
Angelcare monitor is a great monitor for the money. I got it on Amazon for the $199 price. The movement monitor gave me a piece of mind that if my baby stopped breathing the alarms would go off. Pros the monitor is 5", which is larger than some monitors . The menu is all touch screen which is nice at night. My previous monitor of another brand was not touch screen and it was hard to see the buttons in the middle of the night in the dark. The parents monitor has a nice stand to hold it up and the battery pack has a locking mechanism instead of a screw battery compartment which is nice. Although if you child gets a hold of it and figures how to open that they can get a hold of the battery, but the battery is big so they cannot swallow it. The kids camera is magnetic so it is easy to take off the stand if you need to hang on the wall. The camera came linked up to the parents monitor so setup was easier then my previous monitor . The camera does move or pan up and down and side to side. The only con I would say is maybe the battery compartment if you think your child could figure out how to open or if it breaks then your battery would come out. The only other con is that if you forget to mute the sensor pad when taking your child out of bed they the alarm will go off potentially waking your baby. Once you get used to the sensor pad and muting then it is not a problem. Overall I think it is a good monitor if you can get it for the $199 price.

Features plus price equals happy buyer here.
Overall, for the price, and considering all the features this item is great. I try to be fair even reviewing anything. That is how it gets 5 stars overall with only 4 stars on night vision and battery life. Now the 4 stars for night vision are for 2 reasons. 1 whereas the depth of coverage is great, it'll cover a whole room, most things close end up washed out in a bright white glow on the screen. Just moved it back and problem solved. 2 there is a dead pixel that is most noticeable at night and is just annoying. The 4 stars for battery life are because I felt the battery died a little fast when unplugged. It would not have taken much to put a little higher capacity battery in the device. The motion pad is superb. Really sensitive and as a parent that is greatly appreciated. The screen in daytime (color) is great. Ours did arrive with a burnt out pixel line mentioned above, however, that is only noticeable with the night vision. I have a feeling 1 pixel will not be covered. Overall, this is the 2nd angel care product and I am very happy.
