Q: how does the drip water contact the plant roots? Is there an internal media within the pipe?

Thank you for your interest. You ned to fill the tube with Perlite or any other growing medium. I use perlite in mine and it works great. You can also fill it with potting soinl if it will drain well enogh.I have not personaly tried that but i plan to test it out this summer.Please contac me with any more questions.Thanks,John

Q: Is this made from food-grade pvc? Bpa free? Is there a tube for the pump included?

This is standard pvc pipe. I do not think it is officially food grade but it is the same type of pvc that runs drinking water though most houses.There is no pump tube with this unit. I use a standard 1/4" irigation drip line to feed the tower and a 1/2" irigation tubing to collect the water and return it to the nutient tank. feel free to text me at 208-315-1216Thanks for your interest,John
