Seems to be working, will be interested to see any longer-term effects
We live in a very old terraced house. In winter, things are generally pretty damp regardless of how well we think we'd sealed doors and windows. We've bought this to improve air quality and minimise the risk of mould or anything else unpleasant taking hold.It seems to be working so far, and the auto air-quality detection I was quite cynical about prior to buying does kick in every time we're doing something like frying in the other room, or kicking up dust moving stuff around, so it's obviously not just marketing fluff! The unit is sat right next to me but it isn't so noisy I can't hear the TV on low, and the night-time mode is barely audible at all.

Liked the first one so much I bought a second!
I have had large and small air purifiers for a year and recently decided to buy two smaller units for bedrooms. I chose this Winix model because my husband has larger purifiers of this brand at work and likes them. I couldn’t be more pleased! I got one and then a week later a second. Both are great and well exceed my expectations. They work well, are easy to use and I love how they show you current “air quality”.The day I set it up in my daughters room the light showed amber at first which confirmed what I thought. My room showed blue...until I started moving things out of my closet kicking up unseen dust and it went red! Both cleared the air pretty quickly then moved down to a quiet mode.Sleep mode is great, and much quieter than both the large and small air purifiers we already had. Automatic is a great function too. These have made a big difference to hayfever and dust allergies for those in the family who suffer. I also like that the plasma function clears viruses and bacteria!I definitely give these five stars and I will likely buy a third for my oldest to take when they are off to Uni in the autumn.

Great- but can be dangerous to birds
This is a good compact purifier with good auto mode. Filter lasts about 6 months for us and is easy to change. WARNING. We have just lost our beloved parrot which developed breathing issues. Do not use the ionic feature if you have birds or asthma. This feature can be switched off.

Clean air.
I have an allergy to organic matter, and l cough frequently. Since buying this air purifier there is a noticeable difference. There is a night setting which means it runs at night without disturbing our sleep. We put it on to full in the morning and the thing gets to work filtering and purifing, the air quality is better without needing to open the window. It sits in the corner of the room it's about the size of a waste paper basket.

Not totally convinced
Starting with the pros, it looks sleek and is very easy to operate with responsive touch controls. Cord is decently long enough. On sleep mode, it's quiet enough to sleep comfortably, even if you're sensitive to ambient noises like myself. Blue light turns off in sleep mode. However I can't say I've noticed a difference with this running, whether in low or high mode. I've tested it a few times by blowing both candle and tobacco smoke directly into the holes. Only once out of 3 times did the auto sensor kick on. The other 2 times, zero response with smoke billowing into the machine. Makes me question the legitimacy of the air sensor. I have it running in my office most of the time and it'll randomly kick into high when the air hasn't been disturbed by anything and the room is free of dust, so not sure what's setting it off, or if it's programmed to switch to high at random times to appear as if it's doing something. I was also hoping to use this to clear cooking odors from the kitchen but again, it doesn't seem to sense the smoke from pan frying (the smoke alarms certainly do) and when manually set to high, it did nothing to clear the smells from the kitchen even after 4 hours with the doors closed. So, I'm not totally convinced this air purifier does much more than gently move the air around. Placebo can be a powerful effect for some people though. They think it works, so they convince themselves that their allergies and stuffy nose is getting better. Who knows. At least it looks nice.
