In God's Hands: The Spiritual Diaries of Pope John Paul II Hardcover – March 28, 2017

Recommended to me and worthwhile. Very nice to see the revelations of JPII and how human yet holy his was.

Great book for a gift and the durability of paperback is perfect.

A treasure trove of the retreat notes of the sainted pope!I haven't had this book long and have only read the first 30 pages, but I've already underlined so many things. Here are some of my favorite early quotes:"Holy Mass brings the rhythm of Christ, the rhythm of the Son of God into our lives." (13)"In the Eucharist, Christ the Lord allowed us to draw as close to Himself as possible - particularly through priesthood" (7)"Not to be discouraged by crosses. The cross is our dowry - above all, it was Mary's dowry. ... St Peter on the lake - if I look at the man, I am overwhelmed by pessimism; when I look at Christ, trust returns." I'll simply repeat, long overdue! Fifteen more words required. A great man, Catholic or not, this brilliant man continues to inspire, even though Saint John Paul II is no longer physically amongst us. I have surpassed the necessary word minimum.

I am enjoying reading the book sporadically. It's so simple and JP's notes are unedited and unself-conscious. They are also lean, spare and to the point. Like he was!

I was a little disappointed because it is really, mostly Notes from Retreats he attended. I wouldn’t call it a Spiritual Diary. Certainly there is a rich wealth of spiritual Reading contained in it well worth pondering over. Also, there are quite a few pages that are copies of the original journal pages, but, they are written in Polish I presume,so not really helpful. It just wasn’t what I expected, a Spiritual Diary.
