Well made simple and effective to use for occasional needs.
I had purchased what was thought was a genuine Platinum brand pass-through crimper 5 years ago, but it was a deceptive fake and failed. This is the real deal. Much better quality, and while not cheap, what cost do you have when one fails on a client site for a critical connection? That's what happened to me. Upon research of the old unit I had found out it was deceptively labeled and packaged to look like a genuine Platinum brand crimper.I am a bit of a brand snob for good reason. Brand names generally have earned their reputations. This crimper is significantly better made than the counterfeit one I purchased (Thanks Amazon for allowing so much of this to happen unaddressed). As always I keep several crimpers in my toolkit but this one is the go to unit. It's fast and easy to precisely create the occasional RJ45 or RJ12 connector you need or to do simple repairs. It is not intended for heavy duty bulk use (not many do that these days but it needs being said). If you plan on doing hundreds of crimps per day you should explore a heavier unit (also examine your career choices LOL)Nuff said, this is a good unit and well worth the money. Get the cheaper one and it will fail or not do a good job. For a serious tech, this is the unit. Everything else is just a waste of time and money.

Feed thru connectors that WORK!
We have been installing Jacks on the cable terminations because they are easy to install and always test out perfectly. With the new feed thru RJ45 Cat6 plugs - we can now say the same thing about installing the easier to use plugs.1) Check that the opening for the feed thru is big enough to support the cable you are using. The value of the feed thru is limited if you have to force the cable each time.2) Lay out the color code you want and trim the cable end to give you a nice clean end3) Feed through the connector and double check that you still have the correct color code4) Push the cable into the RJ45 plug enough so that the jacket is inside of the plug and gets crimped for protection and longer life5) Twist the cable that extends out of the RJ45 just a little to allow it to feed through the opening in the tool5) Crimp and testDavid Spatz - Director of Operations - Jertex Networks, LLC.

Work ok for home use. They wont last long if you are crimping a lot of RJ45's

Solid and Effective Tool Once You Become Familiar with its Operation
A well made tool that does what it promises...IF you familiarize yourself with its operation. My first two RJ45 crimps were sub par and I immediately blamed the tool - "Aw man...I 'shooda got' the Platinum Tools one...^%$&%$^%$^%%^%$^%$*&()&**^&%$!!" After closely inspecting the connectors under magnification however, I discovered that I hadn't inserted the connector quite deeply enough into the tool's socket before crimping (operator error!). I did another two RJ45 crimps - inserting the connector as far as it would go into the socket while applying mild force to prevent the connector from receding. I then held the crimp in the closed position and wiggled off any wires which hadn't immediately fallen off and voilà- two perfect RJ45 connectors!I am only interested in this tool's crimping and pair-wire cutting function as a single operation. I don't use the wire stripping feature on this or any tool as it is much to easy to inadvertently score the wire pairs underneath the outer sheathing. I use cuticle scissors to strip Cat6 - one cut lengthwise, then two quick snips laterally. I zip the rest of the sheathing off in a jiffy and I've never scored a single paired wire!Suggestions:Get your pairs nice and straight and they will push through the EZ connectors like 'butta.'Push the cable as far as it will go into the EZ connector. Leave at least 1.5" of the stripped wires proud of the sheathing so you can hold the sequence flat as you push through the connector holes. You can twist the protruding wires super tight with lineman's pliers before crimping. I personally don't, but I've seen it done; however after the cable is tightly seated inside of the EZ connector, make sure to taper the protruding wires slightly inward. This will assure that all 8 wires will be cut and won't bind up in the crimper socket. While crimping, use the cable itself to apply resistance to keep the connector tight in the tool's socket.Hold the tool firmly closed at the bottom of the crimp and wiggle off any stragglers to get a clean cut off of the 8 wires.Good tool so far - highly recommended.

Easy to use
I've used plug machines before but I like this one better as I could get the jacket all the way in and clamp it down in one step and I don't have to measure the wires exactly because the wires go through and out the other end of the plug and the machine cuts the wire as you clamp the conductors. I would have gave it 5 stars but some of the plugs provided allowed the wires to move out of their place due to loose tolerances of the plastic wire slots. Rather than playing with those plugs I just threw them out. It doesn't come with instructions. All in all I do like this plug maker and would gladly buy another.

Quality and blade
I purchased the Klein, UBI Gear and platnium connector. Platnium connector was definitely the best. Klein was about the same price but the blade seemed dull and would not cut the 1 and 8 wires (the two ends). UBI gear was half the price and pretty much had the same problem as Klein. The first connection I made, I had a little difficulty with as the connector locked in and was difficult to pull out but I think this may have just been because it was the fist time using it. After that, had no problems. You have to practice with it a few times and do some trial and error (ie, how much to strip the wire, and amount of pressure and tension to use when holding the wire) once you get comfortable with it, it works great. Extremely happy with the product.

Industrial strength crimper
Very sturdy, and easy to use, but not quite as easy as the video makes it have to be. If you use it everyday, I think you would get used to it, the cutterr is extremely difficult to make work like the video

the crimper is poorly made and they simply don't work.
the crimper is poorly made. It does not always cut through the cables as described and when I crimped the cables into the cat 6 clips it didn't create reliable connections. And the packaging was open when it arrived with all the clips in the bottom of the amazon box

It does the job, but could be a whole lot better than it is.
At this price point, you expect something a simple as a crimp tool to work, and work well. Let me be clear, they do work, but you have to be extremely precise about how had you press down during crimping. Not enough, and the RJ45 pins won't penetrate the core's insulation to provide a decent connection. Press too hard though, and it will over crimp - pushing the terminals too far and the RJ45 plug terminals won't make contact with their counterpart socket terminals.A simple adjustable stop to allow the user to set the amount of travel to achieve the perfect crimp would've remedied this problem. The last issue is the blade, it's a little too blunt and short along it's length to provide clean cuts every time. A minor annoyance as partially severed cables are easily removed by hand, but again, not what I expect having paid this much for a professional crimp tool.

Doesn’t crimp STP RJ45’s as advertised
This is advertised as being able to crimp STP RJ45’s. it can’t. Not only does it crush the connector, it doesn’t tap the cables cleanly. I suspect this is due to the connector being crushed/deformed slightly, perhaps causing the cables to move? It crimps the RJ45’s it comes with fine. I did find it difficult to feed the cables into the supplied RJ45’s but got a clean termination 1st time. See pictures.

No more potty mouth
I’m an occasional crimper and an impatient klutz prone to using expletives to encourage 8 stupid wires to fit into invisible slots. This crimper and the Platinum Connectors have restored domestic bliss, saved my fingers and delivered millions of perfect new cables I’ll never use simply because I had so much fun making them. Brilliant.

Efficient and riable
Does a great job instantly. One tip. Cut twisted pairs long and pass one by one through the RJ45 connector. Then pull through and snug up before crimp/cut. Very quick this way.

You know you have the wires in the correct order
Simple to use always get the wires in the correct order and when crimping with confidence you make a good joint.
