I went with the light golden brown tho it appeared to he lighter than my natural hair color. It still came put pretty dark.. very dark brown. (Im tempted to try the dark blonde and see how it comes out.)Its a gorgeous color though. I washed it once so far and it didn't seem to fade at all. It covered all my grays and after my first shampoo i didnt notice any fading, though im washing in cold water with redken color protect. I was very impressed with the coverage especially considering it didnt stain my skin at all. Review: Works for me! - I HATE coloring my hair! I put it off as long as I can because nothing about the process is pleasant. I’m 62 and have probably been doing this for more than 30 years. I was a long time L’Oreal user and did also try salon highlights several years back. My sister recommended Phyto to me and I’ve now used it about 5x. Here’s my take: - My favorite thing about it is that it fades very naturally all over. I am able to go 4-5 months without a problem. I can only do this because I’m fine with the gray showing through over time. I’ve grown to kind of like that look! I feel like I’m not trying too hard at my age, yet I haven’t given in to going totally gray, which would also not complement my coloring. I don’t get that horrible line of demarcation that I did with L’Oreal. - I do still have some itchiness and hair loss. It’s not terrible but not really any change from before. - I used to love the included masque and had even bought it years ago as a color care conditioner before trying the this product, but it seems to me that Phyto has changed that formula in the last couple years and it’s now just okay. - I dislike how thick the whole product is! It probably takes me more than 5 minutes of shaking before it looks decently mixed and ready to use. Obviously a relatively minor thing, and it IS nice that it’s not prone to dripping everywhere, but it’s one of the things that makes me hate the task. - Believe the reviews about this running dark and maybe try a lighter shade than you would ordinarily go for. - Cost is more than L’Oreal, but I think it’s worth it (no pun intended!) Cheers!

False Advertising - does not cover greys
This. Is. Crap. I followed the instructions exactly, including leaving it on longer due to my roots being over 50% gray. It did not cover ANY of the gray; my roots look exactly the same as they did prior to application.

Great but may take time to find right color
Ok, first about the color. I think my conclusion is that the colors are just gonna come out a bit differently on different people's hair and you may have to try different ones til you find the one that works for you. I went with 5.7 light chestnut brown, and it turned out a DARK, chocolate brown. I purposefully didn't go with the chestnut brown because of the reviews, thinking the *light* chestnut brown would be more like a medium brown, but it was definitely dark brown for me (darker than pics of the same color for some others). Not bad, thankfully I look okay with a darker hue, but I'm gonna progressively try lighter shades until I get to the one I actually want. Regarding coverage, I'd say the grey coverage is very good. There are always a sneaky few that I somehow miss, but otherwise it covered my roots well. The formula is definitely not too drying. I used a different brand before (with ammonia) and it took a couple weeks for my hair to get back to a normal moisture level, after very dedicated conditioning and moisturizers. Phyto didn't dry my hair out at all, so that was really great, especially as a curly haired gal. I am disappointed by one thing, though. The other brand I tried before, with ammonia), resulted in my hair falling out in larger amounts than my non-colored hair. I read that that's a pretty common result of the chemicals, so that's why I wanted to try Phyto to see if it would be different. So far it hasn't improved, though - my hair is still falling out at the same larger amount. I'm hopeful this may still improve in time, but it may be that Phyto is no different in that way. Still a great product, though, and I like that it seems to be gentler chemicals, so I will continue to use and work on finding the best color for me.

Like a salon color job for so much less!
I hardly ever write reviews anymore but I am so impressed with this product! I have gotten may hair dyed at a salon a couple of times but I just didn’t want to spend that much money every 6 weeks, so I have been looking for a “holy grail” hair dye. I had tried Olia from the store & it did nothing to my grays. Then I tried a color depositing conditioner, and it also did nothing. I have maybe 20% grays in my late thirties and I have been wanting to find something I can do at home. This dye comes with a bottle with a nozzle on it, which. made it easy to apply with precision anywhere I wanted it to go. I also got a hair dye brush to help paint it onto certain areas (highly recommend if you are dyeing hair at home). You mix the creme with the activator, shake, & it turns to a light brown shade so you know it’s ready to use. After you let it sit and you’re ready to rinse, the directions say to add a small amount of water FIRST, rub your head and let the product create a lather, then rinse and add the amazing smelling hair protecting mask and riinse immediately (for thiose who don’t read directions, this is a crucial step). It was the perfect consistency, not drippy and not foam and it did not smell bad or burn my scalp. I left it on about 35 minutes and I am so happy it covered my grays. It also has a very multifaceted color in the sun, much like the Feria hair dye I used to use in my 20’s, which was definitely NOT non-toxic. There are definitely some auburn tones. The color I chose was Intense Chestnut brown and it was perfect for my very dark brown hair that already has red tones in the sun. It matches my color perfectly, which is difficult to do. Overall the ease of use, price, and the fact that this is ammonia-free, made 70% with botanicals, and gentle on the scalp make this a product I will recommend to everyone I know. The hair protecting mask that came in the box smelled absolutely amazing and took it to the next level, making it a spa like experience. 10/10. 5 stars. Amazing, natural, nourishing hair dye.

Color seems to be inconsistent...
I used this product for the first time September 26. I ordered 5.3 Light Golden Brown and loved the color. Today, a month later I colored my hair again with the same color; however, my hair color turned out a very dark brown. My girlfriend and I (a retired hairdresser) applied the solution as directed and use the same time period for saturation. This product is very easy to use, does to good job of completely coloring my hair, and leaves my hair feeling and smell good. BUT, the color change is very disturbing.

NO chemicals and 100% gray coverage!
I'm in my Ealy 60s and have lost 2/3 of my hair the past couple years due to health issues. Dead, dry, frizzy hair is all I have left, and what has started to grow looks just as bad. I've not used anything on my hair that would cause damage, but none of the shampoos or conditioners I've used successfully in the past have helped. I decided to try Phyto hair color since it doesn't have chemicals, because my hair looked so bad. I used to be a loyal L'Oréal color user, but they have changed their formula and it smells horrible and made my scalp itch. After trying Phyto, I will never use anything else. It went on very thick and I was a little unsure of it. NO chemical smell. But, the BEST part was the (too small) tube of their hair masque! I do wish it came with a little more. OMG, that stuff is magic! My hair felt and looked soft and healthy for the first time in 2 years! I did not expect that. So I got on Amazon and found that I could buy the masque by itself and immediately subscribed to have it shipped to me regularly. Phyto was a little more expensive, but very worth it. So anyone using a color brand with chemicals in it, give this a try! You will be very happy with it! I will use this masque every time I wash my hair!!! Not greasy, just soft and healthy! *IMPORTANT NOTE, their colors are at LEAST 2 shades darker than other colors, so keep that in mind when you buy. I'm normally a golden light brown, but their GLB made my hair almost black!! I ordered a golden blonde for next time. But I will say, it truly covered ALL of my gray.

It washed off after i washed my hair a week later first time.
The directions states that you do not use a shampoo to wash your hair instead the cream that has inside the box to hold the color. Make sure your hair is clean applying this color, if you decide to try it. After shower it looks great, colors the whites, but it doesnt stay. I didnt wash my hair for a week (im a mom) and when i washed my hair first time after the first wash off, i used a shampoo that is color safe, worked great with my other hair colors in the past, it was washing off the color, i could see slight brown. Then my roots i had colored is ligher, it is washed off. I am not going to buy it again. I will try another brand. The reason for a 2 star, instead of 1, because it didnt burn my roots, and didnt make my hair fall out, (i know i have low standards)
