31 Detailed Dragon and Fantasy Designs – printed one side of the page
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I have two other coloring book by artist Aaron Pocock and enjoy his artwork. In “Fantastical Dragons” the subject is, of course, dragons. There are touches of other fantasy in some of the designs but you will see dragons in every one. The dragons range from rather menacing to gentle (especially those with the maidens nearby.)The designs themselves are quite detailed. Some of the designs have a heavier use of crosshatch shading than the majority of the designs. Most of the designs contain intricate spots to color which might require very small nib pens/markers or extremely sharp pencils. Because of that, it might not be for those who have fine motor or vision issues. This is what I saw while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring medium.31 Dragon designs with touches of other fantasy by Aaron PocockThe designs are printed one side of the pagePaper is the usual Creative Haven quality: white, medium weight, slightly smooth and has perforated pages. I've noticed that some Creative Haven books have slightly rougher paper than others. This is one of the ones that is slightly more smooth.Glue Binding but with perforated pages so removing a page is fairly simple. The designs stop well before the perforationsAlcohol-based markers bleed through this paperWater-based markers bleed through in spots and show colorful shadows on the back of the pageGel pens and India ink pens leave shadows of color on the back of the page. India ink pens can bleed through when I apply more than one layer of ink.Coloring pencils work well with this paper. I was able to get good color, layer the same color and multiple colors and blend easily using a pencil style blender. I tested both oil and wax-based pencils with similar results. Hard lead pencils, like Verithins, leave dents on the back of the page.I suggest either removing pages from the book to color or using a blotter page under your working page. I like card stock as it keeps ink from seeping through and damaging the pages below.

Dragon a Line...Drawing
The book is good quality, with paper that will easily accept most mediums without bleed-through. All the drawings are sized within the boundaries of the page size, with good stand-off from the spine. The pages can be easily cut from the book to work on, and I recommend that versus trying to do so inside the book. There's plenty of 'blank space' within each picture to get creative, filling in, blending, imbuing it with additional details all your own. The drawings have cross-hatch 'shading' and are fairly simplistic in rendering and presentation, yet there's enough variety to keep you striving to find more color combinations and approaches with different mediums to make each one an original. Good starter book for those who love the idea of dragons.

Not bad, but not that good either
Not bad, but not that good either. I was worried that there might be too many pictures that included humans -- one of the other reviews mentioned it -- but there weren't that many. What was disappointing was that it was the same dragon, over and over again, just in different poses. My bad, I didn't do enough research and the pictures are pretty enough, just not what I was hoping for.

Another lovely CH Book.
I love CH coloring books this one is no exception. The art is good, paper quality on par with the rest. The best part is the single-sided pages. Works OK with Water Color pencils, but some alcohol markers and regular watercolor will bleed and/or warp the paper.

Yay dragons!
I love creative haven books because they don’t pill when I use wet media. The pages will buckle if you use water so that may bother you. I just put them under a stack of books when they’re dry and that flattens them out enough for me.

NIce Book.
I absolutely love this coloring book. The drawings are so nice. I love dragons and this book is the one I've been working in since I received it. A must have for the colorist, who loves dragons.Paper quality is good and pages are perforated. Love it!!!

Very detailed art. Love everyone. Only problem is 1 page was folded and can’t be framed.
I would have given this 5 stars but it did arrive with a page folded. It wouldn’t look good framed. This is the best drawings. They are so detailed. Great details in every page.

Beautiful Dragons
I love dragons and this a a wonderful book to let your imagination go while coloring it. I love that the pictures are on a single sheet where if you have bleed through it isn't affecting another picture. It will give you hours of fun coloring the details of the fantastic dragons.

Great 1 sided variety of adult drawings on medium perforated paper. Highly recommend.
I was working through a large colouring teaching book and studying at home, so have just started these. It's great that the pages are 1 sided good paper (not thick but not too thin and nice surface for pencil) and perforated, as you can display them elsewhere as I will with my 1st 3, photos attached! Great variety of drawings, though a bit disappointed that none are breathing fire, but excellent for adult colouring and not childish. I've yet to try pen on the more detailed forest ones. I also recommend the winged creature book by the same author, which I bought yesterday. As I said there is a good variety, certain fans will see why I picked these 3 1st!

A good book
Some great pics of dragons in here. I photocopy the pages and use them for mindfulness colouring with stressed young people in youth club, especially around exam times! Even boys don’t mind colouring these pics as they look far better than fairies or unicorns (according to them!)

Great pictures that will provide me with lots of hours of colouring. Creative Haven always have quality pictures on quality pages that are easy to detach when you want to work on your project.

Good book for the intermediate colorer
Let me preface this with: after buying this coloring book I discovered that the artists style is not one that I enjoy, but don't let that stop you from #1 buying this book or #2 reading my impartial review.I love the fantasy world! Dragons, fairies, etc. So when I saw this newest release by Dover Publishings Creative Haven "Fantastical Dragons" by artist Aaron PocockI had to give it a try! This book is meant for the intermediate to advanced colorer, I think the a beginner would be overwhelmed by the detail in most of the pages. There's 7 out of 31 pages that I'd say a beginner would enjoy and not be confused or overwhelmed with all the detail in them.Pros: pages are perforated, images printed on one side, excellent value for the price, awesome challenge for the more advanced colorerCons: too much detail (makes some of the designs look a little messy), most of the images don't allow you to color the dragons individual scales which is a big part of coloring dragons - to me anyways - this was disappointing, I wish I could've seen some of the images beforehand. All in all, I think this book would be a fine challenge for an experienced colorer looking for a challenge!Thank you for reading! If my review has helped you in any way, I'd be extremely grateful for you to click "yes" you found my review helpful. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me, I'd be happy to try to answer what I can.Best Wishes and Positive Thoughts,BluntReviews
