Great shoe... BUT some changes.
I have worn Asics Kayano for years. My normal shoe size is 11-11.5. I have a regular width foot, with low arch and pronate. Comparing the 28's to the 27's.... These are narrower and shorter, no doubt. I'm glad I followed reviews and went with a size larger (I was already getting a half size larger), and had to swap to the wide width. I'm now in a 12.5 W ?!? I am seeing this trend in many brands of running shoes. I'm not sure why makers are using a narrower/smaller foot model? Due to this, many of us are at the top of the women's size spectrum, with nowhere to go, except a 'manish' version of a running shoe. Please, Asics! You make great shoes! There is a reason the largest sizes sell out so fast! I advise you re-evaluate this trend. We want cool, bright, lady like colored shoes, (in the appropriate size), so we have options too! The feel of the 28's is lighter, with more cushion along the entire shoe. Strangely, I have always bought the Kayano for its classificiation of neutral/moderate pronation, but this model has no arch. I add my own orthotic to take care of the support, but thought it should be mentioned, as this is different from Kayano's of the past. Overall, a very comfortable shoe, with lotts of cushion.

Love the shoes!
After searching for days for a pair of shoes for over pronating, I finally settled on these. Based on the reviews I did go up a half size and they fit perfectly! I’ve worn Ryka for the past five years for walking, but I was going through a pair every eight months because the shoe would wear down to the rubber on the inside where the ball of my foot was due to me over pronating. Because these shoes were designed specifically for overrating, I’m really hoping they will last. I didn’t have to break them in… just put them on and started walking. Very comfortable!

Gel Kayano 28 Lite Show Carrier Grey/ Pure Silver
I live in the Gel Kayanos. I stand harder on the insides of my feet than the outside and these eliminate all of the fatigue that comes with walking/standing like that. Not all ASICS are built the same. I’ve tried the other styles and the kayano is the most comfortable for me. I have a neutral pair and a blue pair so I wanted a fun pair and went with the mesh looking lite show in carrier gray/pure silver. The gray is like a charcoal gray. Somehow bright af and still neutral. I can wear these with anything. I don’t know how that works but these are my new FAVORITE. I love the super reflective side logo so I can walk at night and have a little extra visibility. The ankle support is unrivaled. I don’t know where they shipped from but I don’t think they’ve ever been tried on because they’re stiff so I’ve got plenty of life with them. The fact that they were almost $50 off was the icing on the cake for me.

My Right Foot Hates This Shoe
Before I start this review, I should mention that I have two completely different feet and they are seldom in agreement about shoes. I have to search for shoes that make both feet happy. I have always had higher arches, but they have been flattening over the years. Now, one has a higher arch than the other one and is a half-size shorter. It is also slightly wider at the ball. That foot likes to supinate. The arch fell more in the other foot, which is now slightly longer. That one is fairly neutral. I have sensitive feet and both are very picky about shoes. I like a roomy toe box and a narrower heel. These Gel-Kayano shoes certainly satisfy that criteria. However, my right foot hates this shoe due to the support features. This is a beautiful shoe, but it is supportive to the point of being a bit oppressive. There is too much padding around the cuff at the heel, which is a bit uncomfortable and rubs a bit on the heel of the shorter foot. There is great deal of cushioning in the sole and heel, which is good for "supinators", but it is a big sacrifice in responsiveness. The outside of my supinating right foot just mushes right into the lateral part of the shoe, rather than pushing off. I need a supportive shoe for my right foot, but it feels like this shoe is doing the opposite of what I need it to do. It seems to be exaggerating the supination. My left foot, which is flatter and more neutral, is OK with this shoe. It finds it comfortable. Of course, I buy shoes to fit the longer foot, so the shoe does fit the left foot better. That may also be why it isn't bothered by the excessive padding around the cuff at the heel. Unfortunately, it slides and rubs on my shorter, problemed, supinating right foot. My guess is that the shoe has to be a perfect fit or the padded heel is going to be a problem for some. I do find that the shoe is true to sizing. I measure both the width and length of my feet before ordering online and check with the manufacturer for sizing. These fit exactly as expected. They are a bit more snug at the arch and the heel for support, but the toe box is ample for me. My feet are pretty standard for width and I don't find this shoe to run narrow, like many claim the Asics brand to do. I think this shoe would be great for pronators who want superb cushioning, but I wouldn't recommend it for supinators. The cushioning is certainly ample for supinators, but the support seems to be geared more for pronation. It seems to actually push my feet in that direction. I did try the Asics Gel-Cumulus 23, which was a better fit for my supinating right foot. It puts it in the correct alignment without putting all kinds of unnecessary pressure on the foot. It still has more padding at the cuff of the heel and more cushioning in the sole than I would like, but that is more of a personal preference. I tend to prefer more responsiveness over cushioning. I also tried the Asics Gel-Venture 7 to help my supinating right foot, which doesn't have nearly as much cushioning and padding, but the shoe is supportive and responsive. Both of my feet love that shoe, as well as the price tag. Lastly, I also tried the Brooks Adrenaline GTS, which is a fine shoe for cushioning, but it doesn't seem to be made as well as the the Asics brand shoes or provide as much support. It has some degree of side rail support, but the material above the sole doesn't provide much form or shape. It is pretty soft and allows the foot to slide around. It is, however, a comfortable shoe for everyday wearing. I just wouldn't run in them. All four pairs of these shoes were purchased and compared for their comfort and ability to help my right, supinating foot without irritating my left foot. While I am on the fence about the Brooks shoes, I'm keeping the latter two pairs of Asics shoes and returning the Gel-Kayano 28s. I just don't feel the Gel-Kayano 28s are a good fit for supination.

Like walking on a cloud
I have been wearing Asics Gel Kayano's since model 15. I have four pairs of the 28's at this time. I tried the 29's and 30's and they remodeled the sneaker and it runs smaller than previously made and is not as comfortable and are very chunky and clunky to wear. I run, walk, do zumba, step aerobics, weight train and more with these sneakers and love them. Great support throughout. I will have to look for a new brand once I wear these out unless Asics goes back to this style with their 31's. Well made and last!

Hard to get on and off
Ive worn Asics for years and generally like them, and although I am keeping this pair, I’m not as happy with them as I usually am with Asics. The problem is that there is no tongue so the laces go across the top of the shoe. Again, there is no tongue and the top of the shoe goes up really high on my foot. I can’t open the shoe up to slide my foot in easily. My feet are narrow and these shoes are a B width, and I’ve never had this problem before. The laces that came with the shoe were way too long and caused tripping, so I replaced them with elastic, locking laces which mostly work better for me. I wouldn’t recommend this style of Asics for anyone with a medium or wide foot. Even if they were meant to be slip ons, they are too difficult to get on. Im hoping, that with wear, the top will loosen up because the shoe fits well and is comfortable.

Good for Plantar Fascitis
I suffer from plantar fascitis. This is the best tennis shoe I have had in a long time. On a normal day's usage, my feet do not hurt. With that being said, I typically wear an 11. I ordered an 11 and had to return it for an 11.5 wide. It fits much better. It is a little loose, so I added ProFoot gel insert to also help with heel pain and to take up some of the extra space. Perfect! For reference, I returned thr $185 Hoka Bondis because they killed my feet.
