Alot of wording of the same things over and over, no real photo/drawings. Explaination of moves is very weak and hard to comprehend.

This book seems to be a clear and detailed account of grappling competitions worldwide. To say it is a book about Sambo is misleading. I've studied Jujitsu for years but this author confuses jujitsu with Brazilian jujitsu. Both can be competitions but have different roots, practices, and rules. The sections on competition rules, beside that error, is pretty interesting. He compares Judo, BJJ, Sambo and western wrestling throughout the book, allowing the reader to understand differences as long as they have a basis. The section on techniques is also very detailed and interesting. This book should be edited to correct some of the errors and that would make it much better and more instructive.

Someone in my Jiu Jitsu class gave this to me as a joke. We couldn’t stop laughing at the misinformation in this book.So Clint Sharp had the time to master Sambo, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Karate, Taekwondo, Kung Fu, muy Thai, and Capoeira well enough to write an encyclopedia style book on each of them? 🤨This is like reading a book report about martial arts in general. I would never trust this author again lol, he is a fool and the unclear attempt at instruction in this book will get you hurt. He confuses Jiu Jitsu and judo several times and clearly has an elementary understanding at best. Find a better book unless you plan to give it away as a gag gift.

I have reservations about a book purporting to be about Sambo, which doesn't even show Sambo on its cover. That is a depiction of Wrestling. I do not know nor have I heard of Mr. Sharp. I hope he can clear that up for me. I have been with USSA, AASF and now USASambo since 1979. If this can be cleared up I would be pleased to change my review- and purchase the book too.
