We recently experienced a five-day power outage, which caused us to revisit our emergency preparations. We have plenty of camping equipment, so we managed OK, but having more lights would have been very helpful.I chose this product because it can be powered by either rechargeable or regular batteries. It comes with a rechargeable battery which is fine for short outages (I have yet to test the battery endurance) but if you have an extended outage, like we did, all of your rechargeable gizmos will be useless after a day or two. When that happens, switch the lantern to 3 AA batteries and you're good to go for a very long time. (if you run out of batteries, that's on you.) This product is very well designed and thought out. In addition to multiple power options, it is lightweight, compact for storage, and has multiple ways to attach hang/attach it to your work environment. They are also very reasonably priced. We bought them in a two-pack, and now wish I had purchased the four-pack.Side note: for emergencies, have a headlamp for everyone in your household. They are invaluable. We also bought a very big power brick to recharge phones, etc. Surprisingly, my mobile worked throughout our outage but some carriers did not.

Power outages can be an occupational hazard when you live in an area with a lot of trees.These little guys are amazing because: the charge is long lasting--very bright, so one can light a single room--both rechargeable AND battery powered--and they've got magnets on the bottom! That's very handy for working on cars.The small size makes it able to fit almost anywhere and produce light. Perfect to keep handy in my car.Christa

This lantern comes with a rechargeable battery and charging cable which is helpful for use with a battery pack in lieu of three double A batteries. It is bright enough but I think a little brighter is better for outdoor use. They are bigger than what I perfer but good value.

The COB light is as bright as a 40 watt incandescent bulb at first then down to about a 25 watt incandescent bulb as the battery is drained. Still quite usable at home. The light runs on 3x AA (rechargeable & alkaline) will work in it and even comes with its own 18650 battery. This is an incredible bargain @ $7.54 for 2.The 18650 battery is a generic quality 1,500 MaH battery but it does work. The lantern will work with 3 AA rechargable batteries also. Note that with 2000 MaH AA batteries the lantern will run on AA longer than the 18650 battery.You can also take out the batteries, plug in the USB cord to the lantern and connect it via the USB cable to a USB battery bank and run the light that way.There are several hanger options that allow you to maximize the available light. They are not flimsy and have resisted a few drops from waist height. That said these will NOT survive much abuse nor are they advertised as such.

I drive my ebike to work and more often then not I’m riding in the dark, on the road with cars (there are no sidewalks).So to combat going to the spiritual plane early I’ve absolutely decked my bike out with lights.-The problem with that is most lights require batteries which are very expensive in the long run, so I bought these to replace the battery only lanterns I have and so far these are 100x better than the battery only lanterns!-Not only did I get these 2 for $16 there are flashing red lights on top of the lantern feature!!! It’s so bright and draws so much attention which is definitely my goal.-The lantern light will only last 2 hours which is a bit short but I don’t live too far, but I’ll most likely have to charge it once a day (womp womp ik)But I love the fact that you can use regular batteries in a pinch.-I would definitely recommend just having these either for camping, emergencys, for flash lights in general, these things are USEFUL!!!!! And bright. I’m tempted to buy 3 more packs and gift some to my family!Whoever thought of these genuinely needs a raise ! Absolutely perfect for what I need. I’m so glad I took a chance on these.

It's not often that I'm pleasantly surprised by items from Amazon, seems like more and more the items I get are junk. But these they are not junk! These Eveready lanterns are amazing! There's not a single negative thing about these lights. The lights are bright , can be used as a flashlight or lantern and the magnets are pretty damn strong as you can see from the picture. I really like that they made the rechargable battery easy to access and you can use AA batteries when the larger battery no longer functions. Ok one negative, they're made in China.And no I wasn't paid for this review. I place hundreds of orders a year on Amazon whether for work or personal use and I review almost everything so I can help my fellow humans make better choices.

I love these. I have used them through several power outages during hurricanes. They work so well the folks I was with were so impressed they bought them. Simple to use, the batteries last forever, and they are bright and easy to store.

I like the multi-modes (flashlight, alert, SOS, and lantern), and the fact that they have a rechargeable battery pre-installed, but if that fails or wears out, you can install 3 AA batteries. With magnets and hooks, this is a versatile set of lanterns. What would be great, and it's not on these units, is an indicator LED to alert you of low power levels. Overall, for the price, these are perfect for camping, or emergency use during a power outage.
