Simply the BEST EVER
I have grown up eating sauerkraut, pretty much--but not entirely--satisfied with what was on the grocery shelf. A few months ago, I began to seek out the best. I went to various stores, including Trader Joes and Whole Foods and a local "New York Delicatessen," seeking and sampling. I browsed through the large assortment merchandised on Amazon and eventually found the winner: Oregon Brineworks Sauerkraut (OBS). It was expensive, but I was only going to try one jar.I had been advised by a friend from Phelps, NY, the self proclaimed sauerkraut capital of the world, to pour out the brine in a new jar of sauerkraut and rinse the contents with water. Seemed to work. I did the same thing with my new jar of OBS , and I think it was a mistake. It became rather too mild. I'll do the next jar straight. Instead of small strands of kraut in the jar there is a sturdy, rough cut. You can feel the crunch of a bite of it in your nose. The last bite in the jar was crunchy, too. It did froth up a bit when I opened it but I realized that could happen with a fermenting product. And, oh yes, this is absolutely the best sauerkraut I have ever eaten. I have a jar of it in the frig and occasionally grab a fork and dig it, right from the jar.The minimum order is four jars, but when I placed that order I asked for a jar of the spicy dill pickles, just to try them out. Now, my son wants me to order four jars of those spicy pickles. I am going to, but this time I'm going to ask them to include a jar of the pickled beets.

great tasting, organic, delicious, healthy sauerkraut
I bought this sauerkraut because I have recurring yeast problems and am trying to bombard my intestines with probiotics. the right kinds of sauerkraut, apparently, have ten times as many probiotics as probiotic capsules, which are expensive. I decided on Oregon Brineworks because they don't pasteurize - as that kills the probiotics - and because they seem like a a good back to the earth kind of company. I wasn't expecting to like it because I am not a sauerkraut fan. But I have to say, this is delicious. It is crunchy and not too sour. I thought I'd have difficulty choking down a forkful, but, as it turns out, I had about 1/2 cup for my first 'dose' as I just added it to my plate of chicken, rice and green beans. If you are on the fence because you think its too expensive, well, this will last a goodly long time. and, its so good for your digestion that to me its like having a cheap, delicious medicine. totally worth it. even if you don't have yeast issues as I do, this is super good for your intestines and apparently helps keep your ph in balance. and, no, I'm not being paid to write this review, just an honest review for a great, healthy product.

So delicious! Will order again.
Oh man, this has to be the absolute best tasting sauerkraut I have EVER had, and my family agrees! We really like the crunchy texture, too.I live on the West Coast (this ships from Oregon), so my order arrived very quickly. I refrigerated it immediately after it showed up on my doorstep. It was well wrapped, though at first was worried it may have leaked as there wasn't much liquid in the jar. But when I opened it could tell it was properly sealed.Only downside is shipping cost was nearly as much as the item and unfortunately it's not an Amazon prime product (if it was the price would likely be higher to cover shipping). But I will still order it again as a jar lasts a while, up to 3 months after opening according to the label. Don't think it will be around that long in my household though.

Slightly On the harsh side for my taste
Nice crunchiness, I'd have to say the taste is a bit on the 'sharp/bitter' more harsh side leaves an unpleasant aftertaste for me. Hard to explain, but perhaps because it is 'raw', the taste isn't as calm and krauty as; for example, Eden Organic Sauerkraut. Hard to explain in writing, but if you love sauerkraut then you will know what I am saying. Probably a personal taste thing. The overall quality and the lovely mason jar of this brand is fantastic.

RISKY
I ordered a two pack ($36.87). One jar arrived with the lid completely off. Had to toss it. The sauerkraut tastes great, but $36.87 for one jar is a bit expensive. I’ll look for other options.

good product
Got this today and immediately opened it. The "crunch" reminded me of my great grandfathers home made sauerkraut. Product arrived nicely packaged and color was good. It is a little too "vinegary" for me so will add a touch of sugar. Otherwise it is a very nice kraut.

The Sauerkraut King
I wanted sauerkraut for the health benefit but if its pasteurized the beneficial bacteria are destroyed in the process, which eliminates every grocery store brand on the shelf. I looked into making it. Takes six weeks to ferment and the process is not foolproof. I wanted raw organic sauerkraut and took a chance on this one based on previous reviews. At $20 with shipping it is costly for cabbage and salt in a jar. But I will tell you this: you won’t taste better. It is the goldilocks of sauerkraut. Not too sour, not too mild, not mushy or too crunchy. It is fresh tasting and delicious right from the jar.
