Very nice little scale.
As an avid home-brewer, for years I've muddled through with kitchen scales that had accuracies of +/- 5 grams. When the smallest quantity I needed to weight was a half-ounce of hops, this was acceptable. But as I've gotten more involved in the process and started messing with the chemistry of my brew water, I really need something that could resolve to at least a gram, or half-a gram. This little scale does that. It's not exactly lab quality, but comparing it to a very expensive lab balance I found it to be accurate to about +/- 0.02g -- or about 200 times more accurate than the clunky old kitchen scales I was using before.Although not pro-lab quality, it is quite accurate enough for kid-level home science, and I have used it to measure out quantities for chemistry experiments that my niece and I do when she comes to visit. The scale is small -- the weighing platform is about 4-inches square, and the maximum capacity is just over a pound. But it's designed for weighting \small\ quantities, and it does this with an accuracy far beyond your typical kitchen scale. It's easy to use, and easy to calibrate (although as another reviewer, Rick M. points out, the calibration procedure given in the manual is wrong.)The scale comes with two plastic containers that you can use to put what you're weighing in, protecting the stainless steel platform. One note of caution here: the plastic containers tend to pick up a static charge, and the scale is so sensitive that you may notice the scale change readings (in the negative!) as the plastic comes near the platform. A quick wipe of the outside of the container with a damp paper towel will help minimize this effect, which shouldn't, in any case, affect the weight reading. Once the pan is on the platform everything settles out and tares nicely.Takes two AAA cells, not included. All in all, a very nice little scale, and for this price you can't go wrong, so long as you use it for its intended applications.

I have had this for quite a while now. It works perfect and has been durable. It is very sensitive and a great value.

Perfect Scale for Measuring Coffee Beans
I purchased this scale primarily to weigh coffee beans for grinding, but also plan to use it for measuring mineral additions for home brewing. However, there seems to be some confusion about how to calibrate the scale.I have a 100g weight that I used to calibrate a previous scale, but was unable to figure out how to change the calibration weight (default is 500g). The instructions provided are incorrect, but I was able to find a comment from Rick M. that provided the correct procedure. In a nutshell, the instructions tell you to hold down the M button for a few seconds, to enter the calibration mode, and then press M again, to cycle through the available calibration weights. Instead, you need to use the T button to toggle the different weights available. Once you've made your selection, press M again to start the calibration process.I was also a little confused about whether or not batteries were supposed to be included. The specifications on the product page state they are not included, but the box the scale arrives in states batteries are included. I emailed the support email address provided in the packaging, but never heard anything back. It's not a big deal, but be prepared to have 2 AAA batteries on hand when it arrives.Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and plan to buy another to use at the office.

Precision
I needed a scale to weight out ingredients the tenths of a gram. This scale fit that bill. Works great, no complaints.

I could never get an accurate measurement as the display weight constantly changed.
I ordered this scale because I need a to measure in small gram weights. I liked the size of the scale and that it measures in 10ths of a gram. It is not shipped with batteries, so I had a freshly charged set of rechargeable AAA batteries on hand when it arrived earlier today. Everything looked good upon unpacking, so I inserted the rechargeable batteries and the scale display turned on. Changing measurement units was easy, as was taring the scale. It's when I started measuring that I ran into problems.I measured three ramekins of varying sizes to test the precision of this scale. However, I was never able to get an accurate measurement on any of them. The displayed weight of each ramekin constantly changed and would never lock in on a weight. Turning it back off/on again, taring it, changing measurement units and even swapping batteries did not resolve the issue. I could never get an accurate measurement with this scale, as the displayed weight wouldn't stop fluctuating.I am more than a little disappointed that this scale did not measure up to the task it was intended to perform. I cannot be sure if it is the design of the scale or if I merely received a defective unit, but after dealing with an unexpected shipping delay to simply get it in my hands, I am not going to chance exchanging it for another one. I am returning it for a refund and will search for another scale for my small measurement needs.
