Dollar Store Decor: 100 Projects for Lush Living That Won't Break the Bank

I bought this and his Big-A** Book of Crafts 2 together, and I like both of them. People who leave negative reviews don't seem to understand what crafting books are about - you don't have to follow his 'orders' step by step or anything like that, the *ideas* are there to help you with your own ideas. In this, as with the BABoC, I found a lot of things of which I didn't like the exact execution, but that opened my mind to things I could do with the same structure, different patterns, on a different item, etc. Specifically, I cringed when I read a negative review citing the ice-cube tray lamp craft, but upon seeing it, it's surprisingly nifty! The word "tacky" has no place in crafting for fun or personal expression. There's no definition of 'good taste', or 'fun', for that matter obviously. I love found objects and art made with them, and I'll never look at a dollar store the same way again! (Also, I just don't sew well or often, and can't see myself buying a sewing machine. Since all his fabric crafts require sewing, I bought some super strong fabric glue that can go through the washer, and that solved that!)

This is a great book for anyone who is spend thrifty and has a bend toward hand-crafted projects. I think it is an especially fabulous find for the parent of any pre-teen or teenage girl who enjoys homemade projects. I personally modified a number of the projects to fit with what I had available, but they have all turned out great and required only low-cost tools and supplies.

Love Mark Montano's books because most of his projects are easy to follow. Plus most don't require expensive and extensive equipment to do. Many ideas in the book can be found on his You Tube channel---https[...] always fun to see a project done to make sure you get it. If you do have a question or make a comment one a video he is sure to get back to you!

Somehow when I purchased this book I didn't notice that it was written by Mark Montano, one of my fav artists! He and I are on the same page 95+% of the time. I have all his "Big Ass..." books (The Big Ass Book of Bling was my most recent purchase). The projects in this book are cheap and easy (I know there's a joke in there somewhere). I highly recommend it!

I bought this book in the hopes of finding cheap crafts to do with my stepdaughter on the weekends however the crafts that are in this book are not what I was expecting, they are not cute, and not everything you can buy within the dollar store.

I ordered this book thru [...] and altho they said it shipped, it never did and they refunded my money. I knew I would get service with Amazon.com. The book arrived in a few days and is in very good shape. However, I do not like this book. I was disappointed with the ideas and craft projects. It is not what I had hoped for. Anyone want to buy it from me?!
