Street Atlas USA 2007 Plus DVD

DeLorme has one of the best mapping programs around. It keeps track of GPS way points; it records data throughout your trip if you attach the GPS to your laptop. So, if your location ever comes into question, you can tell where you were every minute of the day. You can schedule as many stops as you want. Callouts for streets, coordinates, etc. for printable maps. This is the best mapping program I have ever used and they started including satellite views!

This software will not run on my computer, a mainstream machine. On opening the program after a short time it shuts the computer off.

I bought this program because I wanted to use it on the pocket pc (DELL Axim X50v). The program is very confusing to use. It took some time to load on the PPC first, then you have to load the maps. I tried to load the map of the whole state and it wasn't working. The map would come up and the gps reciever would pick up where I was, but when I would write an address of a street that exists, it would say "SEARCH DONE, NO MATCH FOUND." I called the Delorme support many times, they helped me go through the application, but I feel that this application wont give me directions that I want off of the PPC.I should have bought the iguidance. One of my friends has this application and it is awesome. He loaded 3 states all at once and it gives you directions very easily. There are many points of interest.I particularly like the screen that shows you all the streets in a 3D fashion. It is easy to use."DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE THAT I MADE, BUY THE IGUIDANCE OR TOMTOM SOFTWARE."

This software acts like a "beta" version that needs debugged. I used this product 6 years ago and liked it. The first thing I noticed was they haven't updated their icons in the last 6 years. A bad omen right there. Then, I could not get it to import zip codes from an Excel sheet. I had to copy the data to plain text. My biggest complaint is the near-lack of the ability to drag the screen with the mouse. The only place to drag the screen is around the edges. It's horrible. Anywhere else on the screen, you get this ridiculous zig-zag cursor that's supposed to zoom in/zoom out. It doesn't even work 100%. I would consider different mapping software.

DeLorme focuses much of their energy on point-of-interest and business listings, while neglecing to update the actual street mapping itself. Some of the rural highway maps are so outdated, I wonder if DeLorme makes any effort at all to obtain current information. On the other hand, I absolutely love the US/Canadian phone directory. It is an interesting feature, simple to use, and integrates well with the maps. Street Atlas 2007+ is a great resource if you're spending some time in a major city. However, I wouldn't entrust it with the job of routing your next cross-country vacation.

I bought this a few months back and have used it quite a bit. The maps look good although i havn't noticed much change from version 2005. There are still some mistakes in the maps and they are still behind on being updated. A little slow to load on both computers but it does fine after it gets going. It has alot of nice features that make it convenient to use. The phonebook is very nice!
