English Wheel on the Cheap
Decent starter English wheel AFTER modifications. Frame was not square, wheels misaligned. Bent frame 1/4" to align the wheels, this moved the stationary wheel into alignment. Then shimmed the lower wheel shaft to take the slop out of it. Now with both wheels aligned it works reasonably well. Rather than clamping it in the vise I made two brackets and can now bolt or clamp it to any surface. Now more stable than clamping it in the vise, two contact points rather than one. Also modified the die holder rails to lock the dies in place, the pins cannot move out of the dies. It now work great. A little scrap steel I already had and about 2 hours of work to make it an affordable hobby shop metal working tool.

Needs rework
The workmanship on this is laughable! The radius dies don't fit in the yoke (where they need to rotate freely). The upper wheel and bottom radius dies don't line up.However, I have a machine shop in my garage so fixing these problems was easy.Once everything was fitted and aligned it worked just fine. Only needed this to repairBanana wraps on vintage airstream trailer, and it did the job very well. Expect to do rework. For the price, it's fine. Kinda like getting harbor freight tools, good for occasional use.

Will require adjustment
Good for $100 if you're willing to do a little drilling and welding. You're buying this to start fabricating right? So start here:1. The holes for the top wheel pin are too big so it wobbles - weld them shut and drill the proper diameter.2. The gap between the top fork ears is too wide - use washers to center the wheel. Center, not just move to one side, because the ears are also misaligned and moving the wheel to one side will wedge it.3. The bottom fork has a lot of play - drill and tap a hole for a bolt to wedge and hold the bottom fork in place.4. The bottom wheel doesn't square up to the top one - cut the bottom fork head off, lign it up so the planes of the two wheels align, weld the fork back together in that position. This shouldn't take you more than an hour and you'll have a decent tool to learn on. I've seen people here say "the wheels alone are worth the $100" - I disagree, the bearings have a lot of play. But again, you're looking at the cheapest English wheel on the market - what are you expecting?!5/5 for the price and the cheap metal that is easy to drill, tap, and weld.

Good Tool But......
Was a really good unit with the exception of the base that holds anvils. There is too much play in lower arm so anvil wheel would not track true. I could have modified, but I chose to return unit. The anvils are really worth the price and I’m disappointed that this unit didn’t work out as it was nearly perfect.

Good started tool
Works very good as a starter wheel to learn how to use without breaking the bank the rollers seem to be fairly high quality too

As advertised
It's a good set to learn on. It won't break the bank. It holds up well.
