Nice to have solid metal instead of plastic!
I bought these to replace yet another deteriorating set of chrome-look plastic escutcheons purchased at the pool store. I am glad I thought to look for these as they are superior, and I expect to have them for many years to come. Only thing different in my application is that the width of the rings is less than the plastic versions. This is not a problem for me, as these rings cover the cup and bolt head into which the handrail or ladder are placed. If you have defects in your concrete around your cups, these may or may not hide the problem.

Perfect - If You Read This Review
As some have noted, these things are PRECISELY milled. If you have any distortion to your ladder rails you will have issues getting them on. I suggest making sure your ladder rails do not have dents, defects, etc prior to attempting installation. I further suggest a dab of silicone gasket sealer as a lubricant to get them on. Remember, when you put your aluminum ladder into the solid copper holding device, you use pressure to tighten the relatively light aluminum, thus causing minor distortion. I think that is where a lot of folks are running into issues. I did have one rail that was distorted to the point that I could not get it straightened enough to get this on, so I used a Dremel tool with a round sanding disk to make a pass or two around the interior of this ring and it then worked perfect. DO NOT FORCE THEM, THEY WILL BEND. Yes they are made of stainless however it is relatively thin so you can't go hammering away on it. To reviews who say they do not fit flush to concrete, your pool guy simply did a poor job. Get an angle grinder and a cement disk and knock the bump off the concrete which SHOULD be flush, had the pool installer done it right the first time. Last, once you get them on, leave them on. I can't see any point in taking them off, just be careful when storing and don't bend the escutcheons. For the ones that are easy to get on and off, you could certainly take them off. I for one look forward to never having to deal with corroded, "chrome" coated plastic or ugly white escutcheons ever again. IMO I will never have to deal with these again.

Opening not quite big enough but I made it work. Looks better than my old plastic ones
Opening for the rail needed to be one mil larger. Easy enough to fix.

Stainless steel grade and quality is questionable...
These look much nicer than plastic escutcheons but I have my doubts that they will outlast them. I have had these for less than a year; through one summer, fall, and winter, and they are already showing signs of discoloration which cannot be removed from cleaning and polishing. They are used above the water line so there is no contact with any pool chemicals. I would be concerned about using them underwater if just the normal outside elements are causing the finish to fail within the relatively short duration that I have had them. Additionally the inside diameter is a little small which made it extremely difficult to get on. They are also constructed of thin gauged metal, which means they will bend easily if put on with too much force.

Does the job
This is our second set replacing plastic ones that are garbage. These work good and satisfy the health department. Expensive for what you get but convenient and nice.

May have to customize
They look like decent pieces, whether the steel holds up for years is to be seen. I noticed my pipe was a bit out of round so one of them I could not get on and had to use a dremel to open it up on one side. Much better than plastic ones
