The boring bar works excellent but it is next to impossible to find replacement inserts

True running boring bars chucked. each one in a r8 collett very little run out if anyCutters mount solid in the bar seats , nice and sharp and proper relief angles for a smooth cut at least on 1018 ran 10 consecutive counterbores for 12 mm cap head bolts took 10000 each pass no problems. Would buy again if my set dissapeared

I needed a boring head for a project, but didn't have the budget for anything name brand. I picked this one up because it had actual insert tooling instead of the throw-away brazed carbide from all of the other cheap boring head kits. I didn't have high hopes for quality at this price point, but I was blown away when it arrived. Well machined, close tolerances, very little runout. My only complaint is that there seems to be a lot of backlash in the adjustment screw, but that doesn't really cause any issues in operation. It comes with a handy case that's NOT a tight fit, so if you're expecting a waterproof Pelican case with custom foam inserts at this price point, you'll be disappointed.

This is not a 1/2” shank it’s 3/4” the inserts are 1/2”

I really like the boring head and the boring bars, however the inserts don't hold up well. I tried cross referencing inserts but have found they are slightly undersized dimensions that don't allow standard inserts to work, so the boring bars are basically junk outside aluminum and plastics which is a real shame.

The media could not be loaded. The video shows what you need to know, we used it on a 1” hole in aluminum. Set the speed and feeds and it startedrattling we stopped and pulled it out and found the set lock screws still tight but has slack in the ways that was not there before we started. Luckily we had a old bore had from 20 years ago form the Share Tool company, removed it form the MT3 adapter and stuck it on the R8 adapter and away we went no issues. Don’t know what else to say, maybe a one off issue or a larger one if there are more reviews alike then you have your answer.
