Doesn't Do Its Job.
The idea behind this mat is that it blocks the heat of the fire pit so as not to scorch whatever is underneath, such as decking or yard. Unfortunately, this mat did not do that. When I first took the mat out of the box I was surprised at how thin it was. It's basically a round piece of roof shingle. When I carried it by its handle it felt the handle would tear after a couple uses. We had our fire and the next morning I thought the device had worked because the grass was flattened down but it was still green. Now a few days later that circle of grass is brown and dead. It was clearly not shielded from the heat as it ought to have been. I wouldn't trust using this on a deck or any surface because it is sure to leave an ugly round burn mark. I really wanted this to work but we were very disappointed.

Terrible Product! It fell apart and I can't even return it!!!!
We used this 1 time and it disintegratedWe tried to pick it up to put it away and it started to crumbleI wanted to return it but it crumbled apart, there was nothing left to return!Now I haven't heard anything from amazon re this issue!!Very disappointed!

This product fell apart after one use!
I bought this pad to use under under a fire pit on our deck. We used it ONE time. The next day, we moved the fire pit. When I picked up the pad, the middle crumbled and fell out. The only reason I gave this product 2 stars is because our deck did not have any damage. Very disappointed to have spent the money on this pad expecting it to last several uses only to have it fall apart after one use. I would like a refund!

Don't use under a fire pit
Used once under my fire pit and it completely melted and cracked. So upset because we were so excited to use this.

This is junk!!
This is junk, a total waste of money. Used it once with my fire pit, picked it up afterwards and the entire middle section of it shattered into about a 100 pieces. I contacted Diversitech (twice), the company that makes it and cannot even get them to respond back to me - I might as well have taken the money I paid for it and set the money on fire, what a waste!! Don't but a Diversitech product, terrible = Amazon needs to stop selling the Diversitech Fire Pit matt's!!

Destroyed itself (and our grass) on FIRST use!
On the very first time using this mat under our fire pit (which sits slightly elevated off the ground/grass), the mat crumbled into harden shards (the 3rd photo shows some of the broken shards after we picked them up out of the grass). ONE USE! If that wasn't bad enough, what's even worse is that our newly sodded grass burnt in the process. It doesn't even deserve a rating of 1, but that's the lowest score I could give. Sadly, we waited awhile after purchase to use it, so it's past the return window - unless seller wants to be honorable and make things right by offering a refund (especially since, in addition to the mat being destroyed, we now have the extra expense of re-sodding the lawn)??

Don’t waste your money.
This seemed like a good idea....however the second time we used it, there appeared a large hole on the center of the pad about the size of a volley ball. And with the weather so warm, we could only use it after the return window had closed.

Heavy and sturdy!!
Heavy ... good quality ... it’s been outside with the fire out on it for a few Months now in sun, rain, snow, ice and my dogs it’s holding up very well!
