Great for young children.
We rented another book by this author from our local library and my one-year-old daughter fell in love with Fat Cat. She had us read it over and over just to laugh at the two pages Far Cat appeared on. So this made the perfect Christmas present for her. She has us read it to her nearly every day, sometimes several times a day.I admit there's not a lot to this book, but it's perfect for a young child. It's the perfect length to read to a toddler because it lasts nearly as long as her attention span. The story of what Fat Cat will sit on is simple enough for her to understand and, as she gets older, the simple words will be great for helping her learn to read. The story is humorous enough (and short enough) that neither myself nor my husband mind reading it 10 times a day. I recommend to anyone with a small child.

Perfect to build confidence in reading
My kindergartner feels magical being able to read this entirely on her own while making everyone giggle. Definitely helps build her self-confidence and nurture a love for reading. The words used were short, easy to break down into familiar sounds.. great for beginners!

Finally broke down and bought our own copy
Another repeat library book we just added to our collection. Love this author. Great pictures and economy of language. Good for early readers. My 4 year old is more into them than 2-year-old but still popular here.

Learning to read
My son is learning to read and it was so frustrating to us both when he'd try and read one of those level 1 learning to read books. Often there are words like shoulder that he struggled to even sound out. He'd usually end up frustrated and defeated. Eventually he stopped trying all together. I found an article discussing the "learning to read" books and the frustration they can cause both parent and reader. The article recommended several books to try and this was one of them. Not only could my son read the book it was so entertaining that he knew what he was reading. I'm so thankful for books like this, helping him read is finally fun!

What WILL Fat Cat sit on?
I adore this book. I love the faces of the various animals as Fat Cat considers sitting on them. I love how the duck offers up the pig. "Will Fat Cat sit on... the DUCK? "SIT ON THE PIG, SIT ON THE PIG!" I love how Fat Cat sits on the chair in the end. Strangely, this normal ending makes everybody laugh! (Sorry for spoiling the ending there.)Easy to read, simple and quick story - love it, love it, love it! Good for kiddos with short attention spans as well as kiddos who are beginning to develop a (slightly) sophisticated sense of humor.

So fun!
I checked this book out for my 2 year old grandson at the library and he liked it so much, I had to get him his own copy. He pretty much has it memorized which makes him think he's reading - and that's a win!
