OutdoorIQ Ultimate Fishing Guide Just For Kids!

When I bought this book in preparation for taking our 11 year old fishing for her birthday, I was hoping for instructions that would apply to us newbies. It was way beyond the basics we needed. It would be great for a kid who was a fishing enthusiast wanting to know a lot more about the sport, who was being coached in a family of people who already fish. For instance, it contains quite a bit on various fish and their habitats and what they like as far as bait. We just wanted success our first time out with a pole right out of the box. Fortunately I discovered takemefishing.org, and we had a young mom at our local Ace Hardware who was super nice and got us completely ready for our outing.

Bought for my 4 year old nephew who lives dishing as much as breathing! Such a great book; big pictures of each fish along with information on each fish. Also shows how to tie knots and many other helpful things for the next up and coming fisherman in your life. My husband loved reading our nephews so much, we got husband one for his birthday too! There's even some info in there he didn't know!

I gave this book to my 6yr old son, along with the hunting version, for Christmas. He has looked at it and read portions of it and cannot wait for summer fishing again. There are good photos of the species of fish discussed and nice photos of "how to do" activities like knot tying, how to make catfish bait, and tackle explanations. Would have been nice to see a few more species covered such as the northern pike rather than the blue crab but it is good to allow him to know there are other things to catch in other parts of the country as well. Over good book for the young fisherman/woman.

Lots of pictures, basic fishing information. We got this for my 5 year old son, even though the target audience is higher then that, as he is really into fishing right now. He enjoys the pictures and what he can read already, and I suspect he will enjoy it for a couple of years.It is a larger book, but paperback, almost magazine style. Depending on where you fish, some of the information will not be useful. It covers both fresh and ocean fishing, lures, tackle, etc.

My 7 year old son loves this book! It is written simply enough that he can read it on his own. It provides a little bit of information about quite a few different things. Perfect for little fisherman.

Bought for my 7 year old Michigan grandson as Christmas gift. He hasn't fished much but really enjoys it. This is a perfect starter book. He received assorted fishing items in a tackle box last year & has a pole.Nice photos of boys & girls fishing. Simple text, great pictures. Talks about basic knots, and mentions ice & fly fishing. There are nice pictures of the different kinds of fish. I haven't seen the book since I wrapped it, but having looked at several other books for kids or written by kids, this was perfect.

Great book for kids. My boys are young and love to sit, listen and learn and look at the pictures. It covers enough including knots. It seems to get them excited about fishing which was the idea for me. Wish it was a little longer!

Nice pictures. A few typos. The writing wasn’t very exciting. I had hoped for a book more targeted to kids.

This guide is printed on very cheap, almost newsprint paper. The information inside is OK but certainly not an ultimate guide to fishing. Pretty repetitive and glazes over some subjects.
