Solid well made product
While choosing which rack to purchase, I carefully read the previous reviews of this and other racks. This one got the order, due to its features and previous reviews. The rack arrived double boxed, and with little damage to either box. It was quick and easy to assemble and install on the car. We needed to carry a mountain bike on a 400+ mile trip via freeways about two days after receiving the rack. I must say, the bike loaded easily and solidly. We saw no sway or movement and heard no strange noises while driving. Each stop we checked, and it did not need further tightening. The trip home was with an empty rack, so we had folded up the cradles and then turned the carrier sideways for our own convenience. The down side of turning the carrier is that the reflector is not facing to rear in traffic. Several days later, we loaded up two bikes for a shorter trip on a mountain two lane highway. Again, no sway, no noises, very solid way to transport bicycles. We used the carrier a third time to again carry a single bike. We were not going to use the carrier for a couple weeks, so we took it off the car until the next use, to allow the easier use of the rear lift gate on the car. The only issue so far is that the release for the tilt feature is a little tight but that is most likely a good thing, so as to prevent it from releasing too easily or perhaps unexpectedly. This is a very solid, well made unit. With the powder coating, it is also a good looking carrier and should survive inclement weather should that be part of a trip. We do not own fat bikes, but the smaller tires of our bikes were able to cinch tightly enough in the cradles to carry distances without incidence. The padded hooks to hold the bar in place cinched down snugly on the straight men's bikes, but met the curve on women's bikes at an odd angle. This said, it held without movement during transit, so apparently is not an issue. The provided method of locking your bikes in place on the carrier is genius, even if only carrying a single bicycle. We felt no need to use any further locking system than the one provided. We highly recommend this product, and would buy it again. However, it is made so well, we are unlikely to need to replace this one.

Amazing value, securely holds my two 60 lb.+ electric bikes
I don't typically write reviews, but I'm making an exception because this bike carrier is such an incredible value.Needing a towing hitch assembly ($150) installed ($150), I was sick about spending another $300-$400+ for a carrier. I agonized over this Capstone carrier for weeks, first because at $130 it was a fraction of the price of other carriers, so seemed to good to be true. My main worry was the weight of the bikes, as manufacturer doesn't rate it as suitable for 120 lbs. of fat tire electric bikes. Other reviewers have offered testimony that it is. Trust me, it is. I've got two 60 lb.+ Rad electric bikes with 4.5" tires and they fit like it was made for them. I've been carting the bikes around for about a month now, and the carrier has performed flawlessly.A few things I've learned from my experience:1) Another reviewer noted the Velcro tire straps were a bit too short for fat tires. I found that not to be true, although I did swap them out for some black ones for aesthetic reasons. 2) Other reviews have also noted the tilting mechanism failed while they were in transit. I don't know if that's been redesigned, but it's spring loaded and it takes considerable effort to release it. If you're concerned, the fix is a simple one, but I'm foregoing it. 3) The only feature this carrier lacks is a lock on the trailer hitch connection to keep the carrier from being stolen. That's also an easy fix, I bought a Master Lock (model 2866DAT) that is made for this purpose on Amazon for about $15. 4) The carrier folds up, a feature missing on some more expensive carriers. This isn't important to me when it's on my car, but when I remove it to store it this winter, that smaller footprint will be much appreciated. 5) Not a big deal, but we've got a black SUV, the gray color is a nice contrast. That's it. I strongly recommend this carrier as a terrific value. Thank you, Capstone!
