3-1/2 Stars
This book was like watching a play divided into at least two parts, possibly three. The first part was darn near boring as dirt. While that first part intro'd the protagonists, it also dragged with the story that needed some punch.Don't get me wrong, it got punch in the last third of the book, possibly the last half, but until then, I was starting to wonder why I was reading it.I'm clearing out my TBR list, and this was next up. The story was good, but took a long while before it started to move smoothly. The peripheral characters in the book were scattered throughout the book, and honestly only some of them were described well. And so much time was spent on the Rangers, that I truly thought they had to be in on it, as they weren't the protagonists and their presence didn't make a lot of sense.3-1/2 Stars, And Harlequin needs a new editor or two. This is the second time one of their Harlequin Intrigue's had mistakes. You don't look up to see a crawl space entry, but you do to see an attic entry. A professional company needs to edit well for their authors.

Leslie Marshman wins again
Sheriff Cassie Reed is frustrated. Every time she thinks she has a lead on the filthy human traffickers in her county, something goes wrong. Its as if there’s a leak in her office, but she knows every one of her staff—in fact, she’s related to most of them. Her newest frustration, though, may just push her over the edge. He’s private investigator Tyler Bishop and he’s just inserted himself into her investigation. Yes, he has a reason: his niece is missing and she fits the profile of the traffickers’ victims. But by-the-book Cassie has no idea how to handle working with Tyler, who never met a book worth going by. She also doesn’t know how to handle the ridiculous, illogical attraction that’s growing between them. Vegetarian Salad, meet Smothered Chicken.Marshman’s characters are so real they jump, squirm, smolder, and punch right off the page. Guns drawn and emotions high, they’re out for justice—no matter who or what stands in their way. It’s a roller coaster ride and I loved it.

Excellent book
It's nice to have more women in the main role model being a Sheriff of a town.
