Recently, I have purchased the Maya Chai powder from Amazon, inspired to recreate the traditional Asian chai experience; however, my expectations have been utterly shattered. Though the packaging said MASALA BLEND, and Spiced Chai, and Garam Garam Chai! indicating an authentic chai experience, the product is anything but. Here are several reasons why buying the Maya Chai was a waste of money and effort.First and foremost, the marketing approach used to sell the Marma Garma Chai is highly misleading. The phrases “Masala Blend”, “Spiced Chai” and “Garma Garma Chai!” written on the tin may paint a picture of an Indian/Asian street vendor pouring freshly brewed hot aromatic tea with spices and milk; however, the real product is far from reality.Second, the contents of the tin consist of fully ultra-processed boxed components. The product is almost entirely sugar, skimmed milk powder, and creamer based on dried glucose syrup, coconut oil, and several chemical stabilizers like E340II – dipotassium phosphate and 4521 – sodium polyphosphate.Third, when it comes to the flavor profile, it is crude and far from that of genuine chai – overwhelmingly, sugar, with a no hint is spices of any sort, but overshadowed by chemical aftertaste. Overall, the chai powder is an ultra-processed and sugary substitute sweetness amidst an overwhelming chemical mess.

Rating updated from 1 to 3:I was very disappointed. I tried it twice but both times there was soap taste to it. I went to return it to Amazon but this product can’t be returned so I contacted Coffee World customer services directly. They asked that I return it (which I did) but they could find nothing wrong with it and apologised that it 'wasn't for you'. I received a full refund including postage so have upgraded the one star to a three.
