Set on a 1970's Lincolnshire farm. Harry is inventive by nature and together with spiteful, tomboy, sister, Lou, has adventures based on his daft ideas, often with disastrous consequences, hence the nickname. Harry is fascinated with suction machines after his dad invents a Sucker/Blower contraption to use for sucking up his corn, stored in old barns. In book 1 (26 pages), the siblings wage war on wasps. After several nasty stinging encounters, Harry sucks up a live wasps nest with his mother's vacuum in an attempt to 'ethically' remove the wasps from the barn roof to a safer location. In book 2, he learns to respect the tiger striped goons (wasps), but, gets into trouble in the school dinner hall, starting a massive ketchup war. He does some washing and some rapid re-decorating after setting fire to the sausages. In Book 3, Harry and Lou try April Fool's tricks on each other and Harry ends up head first in a cowpat. somehow , he makes even this seem like an adventure. By book 4 (43pages) Harry tries to suck up goldfish with the new VAX/ wet and dry vacuum and later, Lou and mates get into a proper adventure. ... The siblings explore an old Lime Kiln in the woods. They are imprisoned in 'The pit of doom' by villains. can they escape, catch the brigands and retrieve the stolen jewels? Harry's daft ideas start to pay off when they lead the crooks, past on open wasps nest. Even Lou joins in with the ideas to trick the bandits and lead them into the rancid, slurry pond.
