Would this device help with mild claustrophobia? I am traveling to Egypt and want to go into the pyramids. Also i get a little panicked on planes.

My name is Todd and I'm the Co-Founder of Komuso. First and foremost, I'm excited for you to experience the pyramids! I also can personally relate to the claustrophobia. I actually used this device when hiking last summer through some narrow caves. It got a little tight and dark which triggered me to freeze and panic, which is actually consistent with the sympathetic nervous system response. The cortisol and adrenaline build up and causes that reaction. Our device forces a longer exhale which reverses that state. I also recommend "humming" while you're exhaling because that helps trigger the vagus nerve which influences the calming effect.

Also, prior to entering any small space, it's important to actually start these breath techniques before the anxious symptoms kick in. This prepares your nervous system with a calm foundation. I often use the mantra "I'm safe" repeatedly to keep the anxiety at bay. I hope that helps and allows you to fully appreciate the majesty that those pyramids offer.

Is this hollow inside or is there some kind of breath restrictor?

The tube is actually hollow but measured + tested with a specific diameter/length to support the right exhale for vagus nerve stimulation. That exhale is normally about 6+ seconds 3-5x. Our therapist told us about an old straw breathing technique that was effective for anxiety relief and overall good health. It seemed silly bc it was just breathing through a hollow tube but it worked almost instantly. We designed it as a necklace so we could wear it and use it daily which creates a wellness habit. Is it false advertising to say this is 14k gold when it is just colored to look like 14k gold?

As the creators of this concept I 2014, we first offered The Shift necklace with a brass base and gold plated finish. Unfortunately, we found that the precious metal would tarnish too quickly because of the interaction with the acidity from saliva and sweat from your body. We worked hard to reproduce the piece in a different metal that could last much longer and provide a brilliant finish like the pieces made with precious metals. 
 
We were finally able to create a proprietary model made with top grade Stainless Steel that does not tarnish in color because the vibrant gold color is baked into the entire piece instead of being just plated, like our old model. We call it 14k gold because the color and finish look exactly alike. Since most of our customers wear and use the necklace everyday, we’ve built it to last!

Got a cheaper version of it. The bottom is just an open hole and was wondering if this is the same?

Hi and thanks for inquiring. There have been hundreds of copies of our product since we launched this concept in 2017. The knock offs are the fast fashion version of ours, yet offer a similar function with the tube. Based on real feedback, those versions use cheap materials which taste like metal, rust from the saliva exposure, give your neck a rash, and break within weeks. We recommend being extremely cautious with anything that goes in your mouth.
