A Book With Immense Potential, But Poor Execution
Lost Secrets of the Gods had an interesting premise as a book. However, this book was poorly executed. While the book had some notable data to glean, it still falls really short given that many of the essays are weren’t as in-depth as they could have been, and the other essays do not push the envelope and play it safe. A few were downright boring, and that’s not said lightly. That’s actually sad considering the field of ancient civilizations et al is oft-riddled with mystery. There were a few noteworthy essays though. Predictably these are from Marrs, Frank Joseph and Redfern. In a field where imagination and possibilities abound given how much isn’t known, this book felt rather run of the mill even for alternative research. There is quite a bit of data to glean , it just depends on how much research someone has undertaken. The book features information on Secret Societies, ‘Monsters’, Atlantis, Ancient Cosmologies, Giants in History, Ancient Astronaut Theory and much more.Once one views those topics above, one would imagine that this book would be absolute dynamite. And it could have been, but unfortunately it was quite lackluster. If you are interested in any of the above topics, then would suggest researching any of the above topics in depth in individual books focusing on the specific subjects as much more information will be gathered/learned that way rather than giving them a cursory glance within this book.

Mysteries of Ancient Cultures
Frank Joseph- a contributor to the collection of articles in Lost Secrets of the Gods as seekers of great spiritual awareness wish to know on a deeper level what historians may have over looked or misinterpreted in the past. In Frank's article, "Atlantis Fact or Fiction", he describes great thinkers such as Plato who validated the expansive and beautiful nature of the first technologically modern civilization, Atlantis. A PLEASURE TO READ the studies and research of leaders in the field of science, archaeology, history, the occult, and ancient religions in trying to understand the many challenges that face us in today's changing times. These explorations into the mysteries of the past remind us of a time when humanity understood the universe and higher intelligence as a source of unending beauty, wisdom, love, and possibilities for human evolution.

Are We Alone?
A collection of essays on ancient societies, mysteries and spiritual enigmas. I think this is a good opportunity to examine the belief systems of ancient people and their effect on us today. This book might challenge some people to reexamine their perceptions of supernatural phenomena.

Perhaps better titled as "Introduction to the lost Secrets of History"
Now that the ancient alien theory has grown far beyond the private belief of a few disconnected historical researchers, we expect a greater degree of conceptual unveiling in a book by this name. We also expect something more developmental than a handful of unrelated stories thrown together to justify selling yet another book on the lost wisdom of the ancients. On the other hand, most of the people that I meet haven't even heard of the otherwise well known historical contradictions of the Bible and the high tech monuments that litter the world. This book becomes a rather good introduction to the reality behind the questionable hodge-podge that we call ancient history. And at this price it makes the book an excellent tool as a present for those who think that they have been educated in the real history of the world and ourselves. It becomes a tool to help people question the convenient pap that is handed out in mass to the general population.I cite the recent movies "Noah" and "Exodus: Gods and Kings" that repeat the glaring errors between the deeper truth and long lasting tales of history for children. We now know from the Sumerian records that Noah( a Sumerian, not Hebrew name ) didn't build the submersible ark over a summer with a handful of family members. He had a cover story and the support of his entire local community to build the ark. It must have taken several years to build this ship. As for Moses and Ramses in the second movie, the Hebrew exodus took place about four hundred years before the Pharaoh Ramses ruled. As far as Ramses was concerned Moses and the Exodus was a historical figure as poorly known to him as the reasons for the lost Roanoak colony and the court rivalries of England are to us. Moses most probably left Egypt after Ahmose 1 reorganized Egypt after conquering the Hyksos invaders that had conquered Egypt three centuries earlier and invited in the Hebrews to solidify their rule. The book also bring the children's story of the evolution of humans into question. I would add to this some other glaring issues about the origins of humanity. The existance of the FOXP2 language gene, which doesn't exist anywhere else in biology, is somehow suposed to have emerged in only a million years. The human affinity for water sports is not found in any other primate. The biology of humans which shows 70 million years of evolution following the emergence from chimpanzees is supposed to have occurred in the last 250,000 years. And what about the human chin, are you kidding me? There is no selection process to account for this anomaly whatsoever. So, we shouldn't exist by any rational account. So, we are not a natural product of only evolution. So, grow a brain and buy this book for your friends and smug minded revisionists at work. You'll have fun upsetting the natural order and we can all sleep better at night in actually having earned the name "homo sapiens sapiens".I'm of two minds about this book so I split the difference in my rating. Still this is a good book to start controversial discussions.

I'd recommend the book just for Marrs' chapter
I bought it thinking it was a Jim Marrs book. It's not, he has one chapter. But having read his chapterand having read a few other chapters, I'd recommend the book just for Marrs' chapter. There are a couple other interesting chapters too, by the way.

Like all of these kind of books the author reads ...
Like all of these kind of books the author reads things into things that I have problems believing. You can not take snippets of information and understand things that happened thousands of years ago. However there is great information in this book of things you may not have heard of.
