Parenting Through Illness: Help for Families When a Parent is Seriously Ill Paperback – Import, 1 October 2016

I bought this book to send to a friend whose husband is seriously ill. My only concern in sending it to her was that I didn't want to add to her workload in caring for her family. However, the way the book is laid out allows the reader to jump to the chapters that they need at the moment, and the authors include a do's and don'ts list at the end of each chapter so that even if you don't have time to read the book from start to finish, you can start using the important information in the book right way. It's also easy to find the information that deals specifically with your child's age group. My friend texted me days after receiving the book to tell me how helpful it has been to her. I also donated a copy to the guidance counselor's office at my children's elementary school so that they can loan it to parents as needed. When someone you care about becomes ill, it's hard to know the best way to help, but this book is a great place to start and while I hope that I don't have to send a copy to another friend any time soon, it's great to know that there's a helpful resource that I can share.
