not a good thing when the little guy was trying to learn ...
I used these on my grandson's first pair of shoes -- white leather walking shoes. The laces were always untied and he tripped on them, not a good thing when the little guy was trying to learn to stay on his feet. The Squeezums did keep the laces in place after I finale learned how to use them. The Squeezums Lace Locks came with no directions. A call to the number on my receipt didn't give me much help. The way these are used may be obvious to some, but I really needed direction. I kept searching online until I found the following useful tip. After squeezing the ends of the Squeezums together, thread both laces through the hole and release Squeezum. Cut off enough of the laces so they won't drag on the ground. Take a lit match and burn the ends of the laces. They don't catch fire, but melt giving you a thin enough hard tip so that if the laces pull out of the Squeezums, you can thread them through the hole again. If you are planning to use these on adult running shoes, you may not need to cut and burn the laces. Due to the length of an adult shoe, you may be able to tuck the laces in near the toe of the shoe.

Not what I had in mind...
Well, they aren't shoes, and they weren't what I expected at all! They were basically little squeeze locks for shoe laces. The laces are inserted through holes to the desired length, and the rest is cut off. I actually returned them. This could have been prevented if the website had a picture of the actual squeezums and not just a description of how they work, and an extensive list of colors available.

not what I expected
These are the same ties you use to close off a hoodie. I was thinking it would OPEN completely and I could clip it under the bow. Ended up using them anyway by cutting the laces just short enough not to drag and long enough to open the shoe to put on.

Good product for people with arthritis
A little pricey but they are worth it, these units have helped me to be able to tie my shoes, I have had multiple strokes and find my left side has had a loss of function. Good product for people with arthritis, loss of flexibility due to injuries.

Perhaps these work fine for adults
These are very hard to use for a 7 year old. Perhaps these work fine for adults, although not my experience because I had trouble squeezing the device together so that the lace can pass through. No instructions were included either. Seems simple until you try to figure out how to actually put these on your kids' shoes.

Not what i expected
Poor quality for a childs' shoelaces. Still come untied, does not prevent toddler from untying shoelaces. What I have decided to do with them, is to put then on the undo of each eonce they are all set to tie. This at least prevents the laces from going back.

I like them
These are a lifesaver when your shoes won't stay tied and it's hard to get down to retie them. Also great for airport easy off easy on.

Ignore the other review, these are great
These are great gadgets for keeping your shoelaces from untying. Of course, they are lace locks, not lock laces (as the previous review was hoping to have ordered), so you get to keep the regular laces on your shoes, which looks and feels better to me. The product description is completely accurate - these make sure you have "no loose shoe laces."
