Exactly the right stuff.. Here is my experience
I bought this Butyl Tape, to replace two Windows that had been leaking. It works wonders in sealing the window. It is advised to use it around 70° to 80°F. As that's when I found it was most pliable on warmer days you tended to stick more..so I found airing this summer when I used it early morning hours were best. I had enough to do for Windows, that were of an average size for an RV fifth wheel. There was no problems with it stuff very well. Use a little bit at a time as I will explain below Butyl Tape, is designed to stick. Like a lot of things that people use an RV is designed to attach itself to the metal or fiberglass and stay put. This is where applying as a seal between two pieces of material. Fiberglass or metal. In my case it was metal. The fact that it sticks on both sides mean you need to take off a little bit at a time.I found by applying two or 3 inches and then peeling the paper cover along as I continue to apply the material kind of picture it in a way like you are pulling the material and laying it down at the same time. The pulling of the paper should only be a few inches behind where you're pushing down with the butyl tape. If you have too much exposed meaning removed too much of that paper it may stick to the side of the window door or whatever else you using for will make a mess and it will be a pain to take off. That is why only taking a few inches at a time and pulling the paper away as your client. With anything that you use like this it is important to take your time, for best results make sure you have clean the area with the process you're comfortable with I used mineral spirits myself to clean the aluminum window frames and then I find this after drying. Use whatever you are comfortable using the make sure it's clean to allow a firm and nice seal. I also had to clean the RV wall this is attaching itself to. It sticks very well on a 2' x 3' window I have, the minute I pushed it into place there was no budging it even know it would be a patch with screws later. It was stuck in place. This is not glue, but take and it held that strongly some people had in mind when applying it only do a small amount at a time

A very good and sticky product. Just what you need to get a solid seal.
Love this stuff! It's very sticky, installs best when cool/chilled in fridge. So much better than the stuff I bought from an RV dealership. Used it when I replaced my RV roof vents, some of the compartment seals, and all the seals on the windows. Highly recommended this product as I have purchased it several times. If planning to do multiple big projects like I did on mine, I would buy at least 3-4 rolls as you may need to double up on it for the right thickness. Some of my windows and the vents required double thickness.

Good Stuff!
Want to plug up a crack or seal a joint, this works. Last forever and doesn't fail. I built shed on a concrete slab, and water was seeping under the perimeter. I jammed a wad of this stuff all the way around it, and no more water intrusion! And this stuff actually works better than silicone seal because it can be removed and it will never fail, unlike silicone.

Good tape, easy to apply and trim
Good tape, easy to apply and trim. Comes a little beat up in the box, but still works well. The tape is not a uniform 1" thickness, so you need to pay special attention to get the edge in the right place. Price is OK compared to trailer outlets.

Good quality butyl tape.
Perfect for sealing camper windows. The width and thickness vary slightly. I doubled it up so I didn't have to worry about it sealing. If you've never used it before, it takes a hot minute to get the hang of using the tape but it's definitely not anything to shy away from.

Works good so far
I used this as an outer seal (over silicone) for a double pane window. Silicone is supposed to be permeable to moisture and butyl rubber not so much. Butyl rubber caulk is expensive and not very available, so I thought I would try this. I'm not sure this will work as well, but time will tell.It went on pretty easily. I left the paper backing on because the putty is very sticky. Anyway, I feel this is worth a try, and am happy with it.It looks like this would make a pretty good temporary caulk for weather sealing.

Great bedding compound for waterproof installation of deck hardware.
Used for bedding liferail stanchions on a sailboat. Stays elastic while not letting water pass by. Squeeze tight and retighten the next day, then cut excess and roll if up and discard to leave a clean installation. Seal out water at the top. Let hardware breath below.

Don't be afraid to replace your old putty
Very sticky stuff. Easy to apply once you learn how to easily remove the backing paper, which took me a little while. Just be sure to put the stuff down exactly where you want it or you'll have more waste and cleanup than necessary. I found it easiest to put the putty around the opening and then slide the window in. Removed the excess putty with a putty knife and then I used a product called Goo Gone to remove the remaining sticky residue. Worked great.
