Old Mountain Pre seasoned 10155 round pie iron
Received the pie irons in good time and the packing was OK. The pie irons were nice and work good but they need to improve the wooden handles as they are loose and don't tighten well. I put epoxy glue on the wooden handle to the metal rod and this solved the problem.

It works! Found it on Amazon.com.
We are very happy with our Pie Iron. We first saw one when we were sitting around a camp fire with another camper who had one. We've tried cooking several different things using raw biscuit and pie dough and the standard bread slices. So far, the bread slices work best because the pie dough tears up when we try to place it on the hot iron. The biscuit dough is also difficult to handle and easy to get too thick, but we are still working on that one. It's fun to experiment. We do use liquid butter to squeeze into each round before putting the bread slices in. Also, we like this style because the two sides are ATTACHED and do not come apart. It's easier to handle because of that.

Everybody loves this thing!
I bought this because when we're sitting around the camp fire and everyone is roasting marshmallows, I'd be kind of left out because I can't stand those things. A friend suggested I look into one of these (her dad had one growing up) and I'm glad I found them on here for a great price! It's a pretty simple device that's pretty well made. I've tried lots of different things in in but I keep coming back to those pop n' fresh biscuits stuffed with various things...chocolate, white chocolate, raspberries, cheese, etc. Flatten a biscuit, stick your filling in the middle, fold the biscuit over and pinch the edges, throw it in the pie iron and roast it over the fire for a little while. When I first got it, I'd spray the inside with some non-stick spray but after a couple summers of use it's really well seasoned and I find I don't need that anymore.Couple tips I'd give on use...make sure to wipe it clean when you're done, don't let it get too hot when you're cooking (slow and steady wins the race), and don't cook anything too messy that will leak all over the inside and burn.

This works great!
Got this for my husband to use fireside. He loves it! Says it works really well and doesn't stick. Follow the seasoning instructions that come with it and you'll be good to go!

Great so far for first Fire Pit Weekend
Never really used these before. Mostly a house warming gift. We were just doing standard campfire food and some random experiments. We had off brand pam to spray them down with. Made moon pies, smores, breakfast sausage mcmuffin, potato hash and stuff. All turned out great, got the outeside of stuff to crisp. No broken/shattered bits after a few days of light - medium use on the fire.Handles seemed to of come a bit unscrewed from the cast iron plates but that was day one and we gave them a few good twists to tighten them up and didn't have issue after that.Has an iron pin at the top to hold the opposing plates in place, not sure if it should be considered loose or if its standard (again first time actually using pie iron). Doesn't form super tight seal when closed up, though doubt it is suppose to. Does have a little hook midway down the shafts that helps hold them together.

Love it
I first encountered pie irons at a square dance camp out. What fun it was to eat all of those delicious pies, hot from the fire. My son had just bought his first home and had a nice outdoor fireplace, and I knew I had to get him one. I had just days to find one before traveling to California from Arizona. No local stores carried them, but I found this one here on Amazon, ordered it, and it came the day before Thanksgiving, just as expected. What fun we had making pies. I have since bought myself a cheaper aluminum square version at a local chain store. Not half as good as the iron one. So, if you are going to buy a pie iron, buy iron! I like the round better than the square version, as there is no bread crust to deal with. Try a slice of cheese, a slice of ham and an egg for a wonderful egg sandwich. Great way to start the day camping. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys camping, or has an outdoor fireplace, or fire pit. The possibilities are endless.

A Mixed Bag
Unfortunately, in this case, the whole is not greater than the sum of its parts, nor equal. The cast-iron plates are wonderful. Pre-seasoned, even heating, tightly closing. This part of the overall item deserves 5 stars. It makes great sandwich pies. The handles, on the other hand, deserve between zero and one star. There are two wooden handles, loosely attached to the ends of two drop-forged steel rods. When you close the press correctly, the handles don't align properly (they spread out.) The wooden handles nearly fall off, especially when flipping. A real hazard there. The handles are also really hard to deal with at the 28 inch length. I guess if you are working outside over an open fire, this would be ideal, but indoors, definitely not (unless you want to use it in a fireplace.)If Old Mountain would use better quality handles, this product would be much better. As I said before, the cast-iron plates are great, but the rest is nearly useless. If you are really handy, you could try to make yourself a new set of handles for this press and you may have better luck, but as designed, I cannot recommend it.
